Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Neither ER6N nor Z800 is a beginner's bike (going by the simplest definition of a beginner). What is your riding experience?Originally posted by hell yeah View PostRespected Riders,
Hail yeah!
While I have posted in What Bike about suggestions on choosing between bikes and almost zeroing down on ER-6N, a comrade suggested to check out on Z800 and thus I landed here.
Utterly confused now between the two - yes there is a difference of 3 lacs OTR between the two apart from the technical aspects like displacement, bhp etc., but for a beginner what would be a better buy and VFM?
If you can afford a Z800, I dont see any reason in general for preferring a ER6N over it. Unless, you have a thing for twins.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
If this is your first time on bikes IMO you shouldn't even be looking at those two big bikes. Start from something manageable, like say 200NS or TVS Gixxer. The Indian roads are too dangerous for newbie on a big bike.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Sirji its Suzuki Gixxer. BTW I totally agree on starting with a lower capacity motorcycle & then climbing the ladder step by step. It is not that you cannot start with a big bike but you get to learn a lot from smaller capacity bikes, just like you need to learn the alphabets before making words.Originally posted by sparky View PostIf this is your first time on bikes IMO you shouldn't even be looking at those two big bikes. Thank you! I could stretch a wee bit and afford a Z800. However I will have to book it from Pune or Bangalore or Delhi as the same is not available in Ahmedabad which means or rather am assuming that its service too will have to happen in one of these cities and hence will have to look at ER-6N, unless I have got it all wrong here.
I learnt riding on KB100, owned a Max 100R, followed by a TVS Victor and upgraded to Pulsar 180 DTSi. Overall biking experience of 10 odd years until I switched to the comforts of cars.
Though I always wanted to get back to bikes and street bikes at that. Almost picked up a Monster a few years ago, but priorities made me change my mind and picked up an XUV W8.
Again a couple of years back had this urge and checked out FZ1 and CB1000R and almost zeroed down on FZ1, but yet again something on professional and personal front abstained me from going in for a bike... All this until my friend's son dragged me into a KTM showroom last week where I saw ER-6N and immediately fell in love with it. Was glad to know it would fit my pocket and also it was 600 cc.
My best friend and lot of other friends are in HOG, but the ones I like are all 15+ lacs and I thought if I keep waiting to buy a SLK, I may not end up owning even an A class (you know what I mean)
Hence I said let me start slow and watch my skills grow, thus ER-6N.
Am visiting their showroom yet again this evening.
Cheers,
Rup

Am about to embark on a journey to re-live and make my dreams come true and I know am not alone and that you will watch over me, help me, enlighten me, join me on the highway to freedom!!
Yet again, anyone from Ahmedabad here?
Hope to break the good news soon.

If you're going to be upgrading your bike in future then go for the ER6n it doesn't make any sense comparing ER6N and the Z800 both are vastly different
best way for you to determine would be to test ride them both and get a feel for each bike's power. If your aim is upgrading to litre class bikes in the near future
like 4-5 years you'll like the Z800 more. Personally I'd go for the Z800 but if you would like something italian and bit exotic check out the Ducati Scrambler, it had 803cc
engine of the monster 796, the power has been a bit detuned, that bike is like the sweet spot between the Z800 and the ER6n enough power to keep you interested
but not that high that you'll go mad

Thank you! Unfortunately, Kawasaki does not give bikes for test rides and most unfortunate part is they do not have a Kawasaki showroom in Ahmedabad for me to even see Z800.
Am reaching out to their showroom in Pune to get more details on the same.

Rup

I think they do to potential buyers, don't know exact procedure but a friend of mine got a test ride from the people from SNK Bajaj
think it's got to do with the availability of bike for test ride. Try dropping the manager an e-mail he might be of some help.

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
probably by now you must have picked up your bike. but your requirements is tailor made for er6n and not z800. if you want a all round package out of the 2 er6n is your bike. plus of er6n is a comfy pillion seat, suspension, wind shield compared to z800 which is naked bike, but powerful compared to er6n. so what is your priority? it will give you the answer out of the 2 bikes.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

No my friend am yet to book mine! But precisely considering the same points as mentioned by you am mostly zeroing in on ER-6N.
Currently in the process of negotiating with HDFC for finances.
Dear 8Bit_Rider,
There are no Z800 in Ahmedabad as there is no Kawasaki showroom here. And you are right, they just have 1 ER-6N in the showroom and hence no test rides. One, which just may become mine
.

Rup

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
It's been a month since I have ridden my Z. As I am out of Pune.
Did second servicing before leaving. The chain slack should be properly adjusted regularly. Or it feels like the bike is pulling to left side. Might affect the braking too. The clutch was making a tak sound while starting. That was maybe because all oil seeps out while it is parked on side stand . Thankfully the servicing people know all about this. And they have sorted out everything properly.
I am happy with stock exhaust. But I might need custom adjustable levers.
Kawasaki should put adjustable clutch lever as standard. Overall the bike runs superb!

How much did they charge you for the second servicing? Did you get the Engine oil changed?Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostIt's been a month since I have ridden my Z. As I am out of Pune.
