Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
As Nitro said nothing special. the usual PDI. If they arent giving you a full tank of fuel, please check with them about how much fuel is in. Also, manually inspect tyre pressure, chain etc and the other PDI stuff. Usually, all of this stuff is in order but it doesnt hurt to be diligent. To be honest, I wasnt in my senses when I took delivery. I was feeling heady and excited. So just took the delivery and rode offOriginally posted by TheArcher84 View Post

If you are aware of the Nandanam signal, proceed towards Saidapet from that signal, on the right you will find the Hyundai showroom, The Benelli showroom is to be opened opposite to that. I dont have the executives number,. But someone in Motoroids did post the contact details. I shall PM you if i get it.R15S - Current

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Respected Riders,
Hail yeah!
While I have posted in What Bike about suggestions on choosing between bikes and almost zeroing down on ER-6N, a comrade suggested to check out on Z800 and thus I landed here.
Utterly confused now between the two - yes there is a difference of 3 lacs OTR between the two apart from the technical aspects like displacement, bhp etc., but for a beginner what would be a better buy and VFM?
My needs are for regular city commuting and maybe long rides over the weekends.
I read @drsureshmohan 's post stating z800 is not meant for beginners. Could you pls elaborate doc?
@nirajanvaidya, @nitrosatya, its close to a year of your ownership. Could you pls share your experience?
Seeking your guidance & helping me realise my dream!
Cheers,
Rup

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Dear @drsureshmohan,
Thank you very much for your prompt revert!
My apologies as I forgot to mention that I will have a pillion most of the times else will never get to own a bike
.
And though I mentioned my ride will be mostly in city, is ER-6N capable of doing long rides, lets say I get ambitious to ride from Ahmedabad to Mumbai / Goa etc?
I do respect the power and hence would definitely want to tame it before I start galloping & soaring (which am not too sure of as I may take lot of time in getting used to riding as its been over 10 yrs of mounting a bike and getting my confidence back)...
Thank you my brothers-in-arm for guiding me to light!
Any KNOG chapters in Ahmedabad?
Cheers!
PS: Also Z800 has ABS Option which ER-6N doesnt...Last edited by hell yeah; 05-15-2015, 07:14 PM.

hell yeah
My primary reason to buy Z800 was to feel the Japanese four cylinder experience.I have grown up reading about the magic of those engines. This bike is about torque and low end power. Just loads and loads of it. It pulls nicely from low end because of its gearing. In the city it is never a problem. Unlike some big bikes. You can rocket past other vehicles easily. With practice it becomes too entertaining. Just a blip and the four cylinder will zoom away.
Handling is not like say a sportsbike. Sharp corners must be handled carefully. In order to keep price low, it has the heavier steel frame. I don't take any pillion so can't comment about that. Maintenance is also not a worry. It's a Japanese motorcycle.
If I were to compare it with ER6N, I would say they are bit different. A parallel twin engine is more compact. You will not feel the big block between your legs like the inline fours. Handling becomes easy. But it has no drama of the four cylinder engine. Different torque and speed characteristics. A big engine will cruise at high speed with ease. After a year of owning it I am happy. As there is not any other bike that I could have gone for. Still no options in the market. CBR650F might change that. I hope I covered the main points. If you need anything specific, do ask. All the best!

Re: Kawasaki Z800 - Dream Comes True
Just called up the showroom inquiring about Z800. Apparently, they are authorized to keep only upto 650 cc and if I were to buy Z800, I will have to buy it from Pune, Bangalore or Mumbai and get it registered here.

But guess what, am still not able to decide - forgive my ignorance here! Should I buy a Z800 and get used to it eventually or buy ER-6N, get used to it and then upgrade to Inline Fours gradually... And should ABS be a major factor which should influence my decision?... My, my am sure many of you here would have experienced the predicament that I am going through just now...
To top it, as mentioned in my previous post, if at all I finalise on Z800, will have to do so either from Pune or Mumbai and get it shipped here for registration...
Am going crazy!!!
