yes Bro, I was taken aback with this offer. When i personally spoke with the Marketing manager few hours before, He told me the same, Nationalised banks does waiver on the preclosure, processing charges and the total cost turns out almost to be the same.

India has FTA (Free Trade Agreement) with Thailand. Duty is in range of ~30% to 40% for goods imported based on certain conditions.

I highly doubt 7-8% loan on a reducing basis from a private lending company like Tata. Even RBI lends (overnight loan) to many financial institution at this rate. Get EMI amount and compare with other bank quotes. You can get quotes on website like bankbazaar.com etc

It was a hard choice to make, either wait for the CBR650 or the Benelli TNT899. But I hoped into the Chennai Kawasaki showrrom once again today to get the OTR price of the Z800. Man, i was blown away after I sat once on the bike. My Feet were planted on the ground firmly and looked very comfortable to handle. The instrument cluster was looking a bit tiny than seen in the photos .

My heart is racing for the Matt finish black one, I didnt like the green much (dont know why, though its Kawasaki's trademark color).

I need some expert advice before I take the vow to own this one of a kind beast.
@niranjanvaidya, @drsureshmohan, @Hyperion, @nitrosatya , djay99. Please do share the pointers that I need to keep in mind since you guys have first hand experience of owning this machine.

Also, when I enquired about the Service intervals, It looks like a minor check will be done at 6k and the regular service will be done at 12k. The minor one will be for Chain slackness, brake pads check etc.

Waiting for your valuable input.
PS: OTR in chennai is now INR 8.5L.

Let me pitch in here as the last few months for me have mostly about the Z800, though I don't own one yet but then not very far off either

The machines looks hefty and is hefty on paper but is very easy to manage and move about. If you are a bit big in stature, pushing it around is nothing too hectic as well unless you are planning to do it uphill or for a few kilometers. Riding in the traffic is dead easy for a bike this size. The dollops of torque at low rps, the radiator placement, the clutch means following an auto in the sun is not as taxing on you/machine as other larger machines.

The black one looks very bat manish imo and would probably be the more unique among the Z800s as greens are going out in dozens these days.

Service interval is 6K/6months. Not sure about minor/major classification but the service would cost you 7K for the 6 month one and around 15K for the 1 year one and both would involve change of oil. This makes it more expensive than the striple to service. Tyres are good and last around 10K kms. Petrol is suggested to be 95RON. People have run on 91RON without any issues for decent amount of time but you, ideally, lose warranty if you do that.

On, the highway, it literally flies. The way it handles acceleration is pure magic and will have you grinning. I thought it has more character than a N1000 where the electronics smoothen the experience of speed and without anything to save you from the on rushing wind, you face it and feel the wind in healthy dose. I would say cruising at speeds over 140 is tedious without a windscreen. 6th will take you from 30 to 230 if you want to. Ideally, i thought the 6th can be used all day on the highway from 50 kmph till whatever you want to do. The engine is THE thing that pushes the balance towards the Z800 imo.

The sound is music to my ears. The best part being its silence till around 4K-5K rpm and wonderland stuff anything over that.

Not sure about chennai, the dealer is incompetent in Bangalore. They are striving to improve but still lack the levels they should be at.

Take a few test drives. First will have you overwhelmed and you will miss the negatives. Take them in the heavy traffic and the highway. For me, it passed all the test with flying colors.

Thanks Bro,

The clutch for me looks a bit on the heavier side for operation. I guess in B2B traffic, we'll feel it. I just tried squeezing the clutch couple of times on the TD bike that was parked, Man, it started to pain a little. The sales guy told me , he can adjust the play a bit and make it less painful.

Yeah, my dad too likes black and the Matt one caught his eye.

To tank up with 97 RON everytime is P.I.A and the nearest one to my locality is around 7kms. So with a tank range expected of 250-300 kms, i guess it will be a hard time filling it. I was thinking of tanking it up with Shell Super, not sure if it is OK. But again need to check on the warranty stuffs of the parts if anything fails due to the petrol filled other than the recommended one.

My driving will be mostly city during weekdays, daily commute to work and weekend rides on Highways. So i hope running at 50-60 kmph in 6th gear should not cause any problems or stuttering.

I have registered for the weekend TD, he is going to call me when they are taking place. Meanwhile if anyone in chennai is happy to lend their bike for a small spin, I will buy them a meal

The clutch is a funny story IMO. It is heavy but gets easier after some time. But that is not what impressed me. In the striple, I had to play with the clutch continuously to keep it from stalling at low speeds. The Z on the other hand required none of that. I always wear a leather pair and it was only after a ride on the striple that my hands began to ache. You will get it when are doing the TD.

97 RON is an issues yes. But as far as I know, 91 doesn't affect your engine. it just produces lesser powers. But yes, a thing to consider.

My driving needs are exactly like yours. Just that, in Bangalore.
You can do 30kmph on the 6th. I did 28 when I could fill the first signs of stutter only then. You could drive around in the 3rd all day.
You can start it on the 3rd. Clutchless upshifts are butter smooth to save you some clutch pressing. The seating is at home for someone like me who has been riding a R15 all these days. No stress anywhere for me. If you are coming from a more a comfy seating, expect your wrists and shoulders to pain for a week or so.

Thats a good sign bro. I drive a CL500 now and I did feel the seat is a bit on the harder side, may be some foam pads should do the job to keep my butt happy during long rides. Filling her up with 91 RON, if it is going to give lesser performance, without affecting the components, I can live with it for a while. I guess Hyperion or djay99 can sum it up, since either of them is using the 91 RON.

I am all happy other than that, I can live with 20k expense an annum on the maintenance. Afterall owning a SBK has been a dream for the last 16 years, ever since i saw a big bike on a magazine whose name even i cant remeber.

So i guess its like a small vanavas , except its self-centered one :P

Yeah, Hoping that the 60k reduction stays in place. Funny thing is , the vehicle has to reach the delaer before this offer expires, its not that, if you had put a booking amount, the 60k offer is in place still. All 850000 Gandhiji printed papers has to be laid down and the import order will be placed to the Thai factory and the vehicle has to be. Prices are expected to soar north of 9.4L due to the increse in excise duty.

Yup. Djay and me have been told the prices go up next month. around 9.6 in bangalore. Good for the early buyers. And yes the discount is on the day the full payment is made.
They have just imported a large lot in feb mid. Part with all the gandhis and the endless wait. Soul sapping.
