I know you arent interested in the Striple but I will write down my experience anyway

I rode the Striple and Daytona back to back. This was way before I was considering the Z. The instant I rolled off with ST, I was underwhelmed. For the record, the only big bike I rode before this was an FZ1 but it was a short ride and I am quite sure it did not bias me in any way. The bike is very nimble owing to its light weight , shorter wheelbase and overall geometry. The power left me wanting. Also, I didnt get the feel of riding a big bike (this could be a pro or a con depending on you). Personally, I am not a big fan of the way ST looks.
The Daytona was a different matter and I loved riding it a lot.

As to your actual question, I am not sure HD Street and Z800 can be compared. The cater to different riding styles. I have seen the HD in person (almost daily in office parking). It looks diminutive and doesnt stand out at all. The paint job looked good though. I havent ridden it so no comments about the ride itself.

And as am a shippie and i will not be riding my bike for 6months in a year, I have to get a bike which my dad can also ride. But after reading your bonnie experience, its like bonnie is almost out of question, but new player in the market has blown my senses off and that is Monster 821 which has 3 stage traction control too. I hate when we have so many options and all are equally good....

I don't see why you should discard the Bonneville. I am a big fan of race replicas. I try to corner on my Dio too! And hence I look for that aggressive sporty character. If I had that kind of money I would be riding a ZX10R or Fireblade right now.
Unless your father wants to ride aggressively, a Bonneville will be a very good bike for him!

Guys I'm planning to upgrade to a bigger bike and damn confused between the Z800 and the Street Triple.
I have test ridden the ST properly and like it pretty much.
The gripe with the Z is the unavailablity of a test ride.
I wanted to know being 5'10 and weighing around 65kg, will the weight of the bike be an issue. Also how suited is the bike to city usage? Do you find weight to be an issue while braking?
            .

If u are from anywhere around mumbai .. Test ride is available at the kawasaki palm beach navi mumbai . I m 5'11 and weighing around 72 so i dont find much physical differences in terms of our weight and height . Considering your question and my personal experience , you will only feel the weight of the bike when taking a u turn or when switching lanes in bumper to bumper traffic with your feet down . Other than that no issues . I did not feel any major weight issue while bringing it to halt from speeds like 80-0 , 100-0 ( urgent braking ) was actually testing the abs efficiency and its quite good as well

Thanks for the input, can you let me know about the brakes setting in and how much time it takes?
                Also is the bike flickable?
                Thanks in advance!

Why do you want a flick a Z800 or ST? These are not your Pulsar 150 types, use them accordingly else you might end up with a broken arm or worse.

Yes I know it's not and neither do I ride like that but considering the idiots filled on the roads, sometimes quick direction changes are required.
                    That's why I was asking.

The Z is a little heavy than the ST. But honestly both are quite manoeuvrable. ST a little bit more due to its weight.

I dont have any experience of any of the bikes talked above, but I would like to say one thing, go for the one that your heart wants and not what is decided by the mind. there is a high chance you will be buying something like this only once in a lifetime.

I'm basically concerned with the city riding and knowing the traffic condition in Pune, how it would fare.
Coming from a Thunderbird 500, I found ST to be very nimble and agile.
Also, another concern is taking the bike out of parking, especially on slopes.

Quite true! It definitely will be a long time purchase.
If I had to set aside the price I'd go for ST but then when you consider that it's 80k more expensive and is 30bhp lesser power, then the mind starts thinking.
I like the Z800 but due to lack of test ride, I don't know how it will handle in city. I'm kind of used to a heavy bike (Thunderbird 500).

well 30bhp doesnt make a difference on Indian roads, and 80k doesnt make a difference for somethin you want to own for 12-15 years and 10 lakhs on road.

For Pune ST is far better. The Z will be heavier. Plus parking on both these bikes when getting out off a slope, you will need a helping hand.
I ride a Speed Triple and she is pretty fat So when i rode the Z i was already used to the weight. In fact the Z800 felt lighter in the front. It's a tough decision here and have ridden both these bikes, it actually boils down to what you feel more comfortable with.

Look at other variables as well. Service, their costs, after sales support etc in Pune. May be that might help making a final decision.
