Thanks a lot suresh

The bike is always parked on the paddock when bike is not used
In fact I put on the front paddock too

i crossed the one year mark 2 months back but didnt get the service done as i clocked very less

2nd service should be done at 10,000kms or one year , which ever is earlier as per manual

I was shocked seeing the oil condition at 7200kmm, it was almost black
got the oil filter and engine oil changed and regular chain clean and break pads cleaning and other miscellaneous stuff.
This time i changed to Motul 7100 instead of the Castrol Racing
Motul felt smoother compared to castrol

i also faced stalling issue which was faced by all Street Triple owners in india
The company has no clue what the problem is and all they do is clean the air filter and throttle bodies.

The bike just shuts off when the clutch is depressed
I'm attaching a video of it,so one can know what im talking about.

During the 2nd service i got few adjustments done to the stepper motor and reset the adaptions hopefully the stalling issue is gone for now

Didn't realize your stalling issue was this bad... Probably cos Triumph had de-tuned it badly

I face something similar but not this bad, happens when i use regular petrol out of compulsion. The company recommends only 97, while xtra premium in India is just 93.
getting 97 fuel is quite rare and is available only @ 7 pumps and none of them are nearby for me. So they have recommended to use octane booster. Try getting them, just got mine delivered and will update on the performance after its usage.

Also see if you could ask them to increase the idling rpm of the bike, in mine I can manually adjust myself. Don't know about Triumph

got the throttle bodies balanced and stepper motor reset and few other parameters have been reset using the triumph diagnostic tool from the dealer
after which the bike idles at 1800 RPM as oppossed to 1500 RPM .
no stalling for now

i faced stalling whenever i filled fuel on the highway bunk's during my long distance rides
else i never had stalling when i fuel it up in the factory outlet bunk in the city

my question is
how are u able to adjust the idle rpm manually in ur bike?
have u installed the manual screw adjuster ? which overrides the system and where u can adjust the idle RPM manually using the screw

Don't know the mechanics of the street triple, mine comes with an external adjuster for adjusting the RPM. Lots of bikes do... check your manual. Mine idles around the 1k mark

There is your issue for fuelling / stalling issues... quite surprised why the Triumph guys didn't mention it to you earlier.
The industry standard has been 95 or above way back from '04. Usually we all fill 97 ocatane fuel- which unfortunately is still a rarity in India. xtrapremium or speed are all 93 octane while the standard petrol is just 91 and in some cases have ethenol mix...

From the day 1 the folks @ my service center had been very specifically been suggesting only 97, but its not available everywhere and have to settle for Shell Vpower or other premium 93 fuel...

I have just picked up 2 bottles of octane booster, which was recomended by the service folks in case of long journeys. Haven't tried it yet as am running 97 fuel currently in the tank. Will see how it performs and let you know

can u post a picture of that external adjuster ?

i get 93 ocatane only in my city and thats what i fill all the time.
will try the octane booster in future for long drives

for me its the case of fuel
but there are people who are filling 97 octane right from day 1 and still have stalling
so its varying from person to person and bike to bike
so triumph india needs to work on this and gives us a permanent solution

Thats strange everyone having differing stalling issues

Have been following the street triple threds for quite awhile. Was thinking very seriously of getting one. Test ridden the z800 and the cbr650f and the ducati 821. None of them could connect me the street triple could. Mind you i have rideen the striple with the airbox mod exhaust and ecu which belts out about 93ps at the rear wheel.
But now reading about problems i am unsure. But the only bike except for this tht i like is the mt09 which is expensive.
Now my question is only 2014 bikes are suffering from stalling issues or the later ones too.
Also how is the service and parts backup for the street triple?

hey jackofsame

where are you located ?
if there is a dealer in your city then the service and after sale support would be good
and the cost of ownership is quite reasonable for a SBK

i dont have a dealer in my city and the nearest dealer is 700 kms away
and the technician comes down to my place for servicing and i should bear his transport charges along with the bike service charges

coming to the stalling issue all bikes sold from day 1 till now are facing the issue and triumph india has no concrete solution for this and are working on it but no news from their side .
I got my throttle bodies balanced and the stepper motor adjusted
no stalling as of now
and the bike is running better than before

the bike is a gem
i preferred this bike over z800 because

its light weight
low saddle height compared to z800
being light , its flickable and easy to maneuver in the city

the only downside is
low ground clearance and with pillions it scraps speed breakers most of the time

Go for the bike which u feel the most comfortable

cheers

I am close to chandigarh. So thats not a problem. But then if the problems are not sorted out i would be very sceptic in buying them. Also was going through the news of a st800 which should be enticing.
To me the street is the best bike for my needs but then alas its marred with problems. [emoji17]

Just a thought. The daytona has the same engine with a higher tune but they didnt detune it as much as they did to the street triple. Any thoughts about that?
More so what are the parts needed to take the striple back to the original power? As far as i know the exhaust, the eu arrow map and the airbox mod. Anything else?
And if anyone did the same how does it behave with the normal fuel available.
It would be great if anyone can throw some light on this.

the street is sold in brazilian market in detuned version and they imported the one which would cost them less
or maybe the ARAI didnt approve the 105bhp ST,
no one knows the answer why we got the de-tuned version

but daytona is way quicker compared to the ST..

im running with all the following performance mods
that is
Competition werkes slip-on
Bmc air filter
Airbox mod
Arrow remap
-1 front sprocket
Quick throttle tube from 1050 speed triple
this bumps the power significantly but its not close to the true 105bhp spec ST sold abroad

i fill power fuel from a reputed HP factory outlet all the time

and the bike performs flawless
and i sometimes had to fill in some random highway bunks during long trip's
and the bike seems to perform the same without any hiccups
i know few Daytona owners who fill normal fuel and have no problems and as long as u fill from a reputed fuel-station u wont have any problem.

hope this helps

Even I am now a days hesitant in recommending Street Triple to potential buyers due to widely reported stalling issue.
However, I have crossed 4400 km now and not facing stalling yet.

Let me tell you one thing: Street Triple is relatively overpriced bike as such - but once you ride it, you will find it far more suitable for day to day riding to office in heavy traffic and also very engaging and sweet to handle on twisty roads during weekends...Doing speed runs on highways? Even in stock tune - which is de tuned version - it is still quite fast...Only yesterday I have gone past the 200 kmph barrier which is something new for me...I hit 190 several times and hit 202 kmph once on a long ride..

So, even without any further tuning, it is still a fast yet practical bike without going into any other comparison.

Kawasaki Z800 is a better value for money - but it is heavy with larger turning radius and seat is not as comfortable as Street. Pillion comfort is nearly absent on Z800. If these things don't deter you, then Z800 is a better choice than Street Triple.
But it won't be as comfortable to ride day to day like Street and chances are that in the twisties also, Street Triple may actually feel much easier owing to its lightness though people do manage to ride Z800 equally fast in those conditions or even on track days...For very skilled riders, that should be possible - but I can't claim to be that as of now and hence for me Street felt better.

Many people have faced this dilemma - but after riding these two bikes back to back, most have found it hard to go for Kawasaki.

However, I have crossed 4400 km now and not facing stalling yet.

Great to know owners' inputs. I rode both these bikes too and found the street way too nimble. d0c why do you say its still not close to the eu power figures even after these 3 mods?
Wanted to know if anyone has dynoed it after these 3 mods. If the dyno reads about 95bhp its safe to assume its producing 105 at crank isnt it?
Also whats the top whack you have achieved after all the mods you have done. You can share the same via a pm if you dont wanna say it up here.
