with the hope that Indian manufacturers will give some more consideration to bikers passions rather than just concentrate on their balance sheets...

Hey Haroon, I was just wondering, does the HP2 Enduro have the same engine as the HP2 sports bike? Does it have peak power of 128bhp?
If so, why can't they use it on the GS1200R? 2010 model of the GS1200 has an increase of 5hp because of bringing in bits of technology from the HP2 but is that the best they could do?sigpic

Me not a technical guy, but from my little knowledge the HP2 enduro till 2009 had 'almost' the same engine as the R1200GS, whereas the HP2 Sport had the Double Overhead Cam design that has now found its way into all the 2010 R1200 series bikes. Also the HP2 Sport had some other gizmos like forged pistons, larger valves blah blah that is inclined for the racetrack..... Basically, it seems BMW positions the 'HP' (High Performance) and '2' (for flat-twin engine ) bikes more like the 'functional limited edition' version, wherein the HP2 Sport has a high performance engine, carbon fiber body work, GP style dashboard etc, while the HP2 Enduro, will also have a slightly more powerful engine than the regular GS but being a lot lighter than the GS/Adventure for off-road competition (I mean not the regular motocross, but things like Baja-500 and European cross-country championship etc).Originally posted by silver_falcon_46 View PostHey Haroon, I was just wondering, does the HP2 Enduro have the same engine as the HP2 sports bike? As things stand, it looks the 2010 HP2 Enduro will have the new DOHC engine like the 2010 GS, but with some tweeks in its heads, valves etc. for added performance, but they may probably continue to add some more juice into the HP2 Sport for its race track performance

Hmm.. Confusing! Why use two different engines which are made for similar purpose I wonder.Originally posted by Haroon View PostMe not a technical guy, but from my little knowledge the HP2 enduro till 2009 had 'almost' the same engine as the R1200GS, whereas the HP2 Sport had the Double Overhead Cam design that has now found its way into all the 2010 R1200 series bikes. Oh yes. That is a great one. They also have a proper off-road track right next to it where you can try out their various machines including the Husqvarnas!Originally posted by Haroon View PostI will be wrapping up my europe bike trip with a visit to the BMW headquarters & museum in Munich today. The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

For me it was more like a crash course....
And I thought I knew more about bikes(Just Kidding), GOSH this tutorial was AMAZING. Good to know there's more to, than meets the eyes.
The good part is that finally the BMW is also launching the bike range in India soon enough. Now the competition will get fierce, but hopefull people who buy understand the true nature of the bikes. And buy them for the actual purpose of it and not just simply buy for showoff purpose.sigpic
