    • saw the Gold n Black in flesh @ mumbai and im like wow...

      hi doktor
congrats again on your new busa
your pics made me go crazy and i needed to see the busa for real
and the craving really got all over me
made me abandon my work and search for the golden treasure
called up the mumbai dealer to ask if he can arrange for a preview
and in 10 mins he calls me back to say he can
he had just delivered the first Gold Black busa from his showroom to someone in andheri
30 mins later, droppin all my work to my office guys, i am @ his showroom
he makes me talk to the owner of the busa who is apparantly on the other end of town and will take at least 2 hours to be back in andheri
Just 2 hours... im ready to wait for more too to catch a glimpse...
and i head off to lokhandwala to do some window shoppin hopin that the guy calls me fast.... i cant wait now...
and bingo..... 20 mins short of the promised 2 hour wait, the owner calls up to announce that he is back home and Busa is ready for the preview..
its a 4.5 min drive to his place... and im like all so excited...
He is waiting at the bldg lobby and takes me to the garage
and finally i get to see the gold busa... and im like wow.... wow .. n some more wows...
      its sheer magic
the busa has an overwhelmin presence, mesmerizing everyone around
i got to sit on it and start the engine....
      and what a roar...
purr would not be the word
he showed me the different drives selectable on the handlebar
in one month that he has the busa, he has done 200 kms.
very down to earth guy with no airs of being a sbk owner..
showed me all the nitty gritty of the lovely busa
guys it was a sight ton behold
the stunning looks has now got me goin n im now thinkin aloud to get one
needless to say when i reach home, wifey says too many busa's in your eyeballs....
and i went thru the brochures again n again..... looking to get more out of it...
all nite.... the busa played on my mind, my emotions.. and the heart ruled heavily over the head.
Doktor, if just one look of it makes me go boing, wonder how you are doin
      ENJOY buddy......

I hope the 09 Busa has no issues with 91 octane too. There is a huge difference in the compression ratio between the old Busa(prior to 08) and the new one.

Don' worry; they are not scratches; its just the buffing that shows up as very fine scratches. Every new vehicle has it. One sign to tell that they are from the buffing/polishing is that all the scratches look concentric, no matter from where you look at them. They will be present over your entire bike, just need a very concentrated focused light to see them.

              • We didn't notice those so-called scratches when we saw Busa. I myself wondered after seeing photo "from where this came" ? If there are those minor scratches they are not visible to normal eye. I used flash may be thats why they come in photo.

And it was good that you guys were not there at Lavasa today. It was raining and slippery.

The old Busa was 11:1 and the new one is 12.5:1 so yes - there is a significant difference in the compression ratios. The 09 compression ratio is still lesser than that of the 08 Yamaha R1 which is 12.7:1 and the R1 can get by on 91 octane in a pinch. 95 octane is still recommended for these bikes at a bare minimum but you are right - the older Busa is more tolerant to 91 octane than the new one.

Fortunately my MT-01 has a compression ratio of 8.4:1 and therefore...I could even run it on Nimbu Paani with decent results

                            NIMBU PAANI nice one
BUT how to manage 95 octane fuel. i think extra premium, speed or blah blah fuels available in the market does have higher octane value than other fuels.
and check this image its a BUSA tank and you can clearly read the instructions

                            • We have 3 kinds of petrol at the pumps in India. At the lowest end is the ordinary unleaded type, which is 87 if I'm not mistaken. At the highest end of the scale is the one we call "white" which is 95 or 97. What is the rating of the middle branded ones like speed power, etc.?

I tried looking up on the Oil Cos. sites last year but none of them would give the Octane rating. I suspect it is just ordinary 87 unleaded with some additives thrown in.

Does anyone know for sure and can provide some proof?

                              • I think Shell offers 91 octane. IOCL Xtrapremium is 91 octane. I believe Speed is also 91 octane but I can't confirm.

I use Xtrapremium wherever available with good results.
