It's like jumping into the deep end of the pool before you know how to swim. You might live to become a good swimmer, but you are just as likely to drown.

              A rap song ?
You rode the bike which your uncle wouldnt give you and the law wouldnt permit you to the tune of 140 miles/hr! = 225 kmph !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hitting high speeds isnt being able to ride a bike. You also clearly showed you cannot and do not have a sane head byt blasting the ride to 225kmph illegally ! Doood ! What are you even thinking ?
jollysingh..get the 250R. No Jokes...think this through..its not about you being sane headed..its about these bikes being unforgiving..and accidents wont ask you if you are sane headed before they happen. They will ask you for how much experience you have.
The reason more experienced riders recommend starting small/less powerful is not so they can make fun of you – everybody had to learn at some point. If the obituary doesn't make you think twice consider this, you buy a bike that, even after taking a couple of days training, you cannot possibly ride to its potential, from the second you swing your leg over it you are losing money and, assuming you reach the point of being able to fully exploit it, it will be out of date and have been replaced by another shiny thing.

Not that you are gonna listen to anything anyone here says but when you go to bed tonight think if you wanna ride for your life. If the answer is yes you have to forfeit on your idea of buying one right now. You have your entire life ahead of you to experience the power and the pleasure of a superbike.

                Excellent post.

I am talking from experience. I started off on a gsxr 600 when I was 19 and in hind sight it was a very very bad decision . I had no clue about how to ride which is the same case with 99.99 percent of the young riders in india. They think that being able to twist the throttle and riding fast in a straight line or through traffic makes them a good rider and most peoples ego's are too big to make them think any different or accept any different. these bikes need a lot of respect, otherwise they bike. Ive alsmost highsided once when I started riding and Ive had pretty big lowslide. THey were pretty much because I wanted to go too fast without the experience.

I was however luck enough to have a plethora of extremly experienced people to ride with and learn from which has made me a much better and safer rider now.

So moral of the story, Its not all about the throttle, listen to experienced riders every time you can and learn because these bikes bite. very hard.

                  +1 to csgup1 and Tenhut
though i don't own a superbike but very keen to get it in near future and for that i always look out for experienced riders' comments like you guys ,keep watching videos of riding superbike, almost look out for every minute thing related to superbike because these machines are altogether different from what we are riding ,They really need respect,So people don't be so gutsy that you'll be ending up with something bad.

                  • Always learning

I Absolutely agree with all you guys.... I've had the R1 for 2 months now but i still cannot tap the full potential of this big machine . It is a continous learning process, personally i believe that anyone can make a SBK touch 200 km/hr by twisting that throttle, but the real test of skill is how fast & safely can he make it come to 0 km/hr if the need be. Cheers !!!

exactly right. Braking is such an important part , possibly the most important safety aspect . Its not too hard to learn but what you want is it to become second nature so the next time you need to jump on the brakes, you dont lock the front wheel up and come off.

You guys probably know this but heres the correct method for braking someone taught me and after a couple of years I brake like this even unconsciously.

When you want to brake, instead of fulling forcefully at the lever, "setup and squeeze" by that I mean use 2 fingers to take the slack out of the lever slowly so the pads are just rubbing the discs and then you can brake progressively harder to the point where the rear wheel can start becoming light. you also want to be rolling off the throttle at the same time.
