    • dude you make me set some long term goals ...very inspiring though ..........BTW puma looks cool.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

      • those tyres are not the best but they are most definitely fine and perfectly good for indian roads. you could probably get stickier tyres but they wont get hot enough. the sliping and sliding that you are feeling is most likely your riding combined with the road surface. you seem to be riding with very rigid arms so you keep adding steering inputs which are amplified in bikes with this type of suspension. I would highly reccomend getting some good gear and learing how to ride better otherwise this bike will bite you before you know it.

            • First Service.

Hi guys srry for being out of touch for such a long time, but my job really steals away all the time.so i took my bike for its first service last saturday and i thought that i wud be done in 2 to 3hrs and then i will be at the sunday G2G at Delhi,bt as fate wud have it he told me that he wont be able to give the bike till tuesday, coz the airfilter needs to be changed as its clogged with dirt and the stock R1 air fliter is not washable so has to get a new one,so i called him tdy to ask him when can i get my bike and to my shock he tld me that it wud take 10 to 15 days more as they dn't have the 2010 air filter in stock and they have to import it from Japan.so i asked him the whether we can get a K&N air filter but he said that we can do that bt it will void the warranty on the bike so sadly i have to wait for a hell lot of days before i can get to ride it again.

              • ^This is no surprise. Yamaha provides the worst service for its CBU customers. If they dont even have a basic item like an air filter in stock, they should perhaps stop selling their bikes! I had a harrowing experience on the India ride, I wish I could elaborate on that right now, but more on that later!

                • I have a question here! How can an Air Filter be not washable or probably cleanable. I mean an Air Filter is bound to get dirty no matter which country.

Also Even if it is true why they need to keep the bike in showroom for 2 weeks. Amit can very well still ride it and when the Air Filter comes, they can replace it. I dont think that it can be choked to a situation where the bike cant be ridden.

                  • Seems Sunny and I share the same sentiments here too about yamaha.... As a 'loyal' customer, I wont say much against it, but air filter not available !! 15 days wait !! and warranty void !!! are we living in 5th century BC or what ??

@all : can the air filter be clogged so badly, so fast that that it needs replacement ???? I think Kolkata is pretty dusty, still there was no problem on the first service checkup.... Somehow it sounds strange. Is it possible ??

for records I would like to say that yamaha kolkata charged us more for 1st service than what Honda (delhi) charged us when they flew down from delhi to kolkata.....

Well dost.... in Delhi you can expect such bull crap from a premium dealer!! I've heard even stranger things and martian excuses here. Somehow some dealers do think that their customers are comming directly from caves!!

Well on the Air Filter not washable, in no documentation anywhere I've read that some massive upgrades have been made to the Air Filter of the 2010 R1 and it's WAYYYY different from the previous version which might have rendered it un-washable in the first service!!

@amit : Just go through the SBK Workshop thread you would find it very usefull.

                      • I would also advise anyone going a roadtrip on the R1 to take due permission from the company lest they void your warranty saying that the bike was used in dusty conditions. Trust me, there is a lot of probability it will come to even that point!

Stock Air Filters are NOT washable.

I have been washing my filter which is a K&N filter which is washable.

BTW: Putting a K&N air filter the world over does not void the warranty. But here it does!!!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

@Ken Da: Does that mean that the Stock filter is not supposed to be cleaned?
