There is a difference between Iconic brands and Iconic Motorcycles (Ducati & Harley are Iconic Brands, not Iconic Motorcycles <Quoting TENHUT from the Forum in one of the threads>. Ducati and HD are a class apart in terms of VFM and quality of products. Again this is my considered opinion.

You were talking about aftermarket mods which is a highly evolved market in the States. For that to happen in India, I think it will take a decade at the bare minimum and that is being optimistic. Today, there is no place to go to to get anything off the shelf (or on order) for any bike and whatever folks use is imported specifically for them.

First, all aftermarket mods and customizations are available for almost all bike brands sold in the US. So that is not specific to HD only and as Indian market evolves, the same will be the case here.

I have nothing against folks from HD. They, I am sure are great people and fun to be with and ride with. I wish them well and all the success. All I did was point out my opinion about the bikes and my experience of them and I think this has gone a bit far already. I do not consider the HD's to be VFM and consider them to lack a lot of finesse and that is all there is to it.

So let time unfold the story.
Till then I am off to test ride a Harley!

I had seen the video above ^ about a year back and it is a benchmark of stupidity . Says as much about the rider as it does about the bike though many would not concur about the bike's role in so obvious a case of rider error. Watch it and think why the rider made such a move and what contributed to his almost straightlining into the ditch.

PS: Note the crisp and precise exit of the sportsbike past the van at 14 sec mark! He throttles out of the turn at just the right moment. Loved it. All the more compared to the chimp on the Harley.

I wouldnt support that statement because its more of a personal preference when buying and owning is concerned. Even the Intruder could be 'relatively' termed as junk for someone who owns (and is going to own a BMW S1000RR. And saying someone not using is brain is a little rude.

So respect to all the owners and people who are contemplating to buy any HD. It is just that there are other options available which are worth considering.

I have never ridden a HD much and I think India HD is too scared to give us some HDs to review seeing the way this thread has gone! American company, Indian Managament . I think there is no other way to please companies here except to say good things about them, even if you dont believe it yourself!

I think we will have a HD owner soon joining xBhp for some long rides with us, so that would add more variety and probably we will get something to learn from his experience.

@AnuragAshok Sir the choice is only personal... the thing i like most will be crap for others... for eg- I hate Bullets, that dosen't meant the guy who's buying a Bullet have less brain... its his choice only... same goes for HD also... There are many guys here who likes HD as their dream machine from their childhood itself... I didn't expect such a post from an experienced guy like you...

When non riders think of bikes...HarleyDavidson is perhaps the only name that they come up with when they think bikes.
But for every rider who likes Harleys there are 10 who dont.

So if someone likes a Harley hes gotta deal with some trolls on any forum and man up to the other 10 riders. Not the toughest thing to do on the internets tbh.

@Binoy - You have a right to dislike my statement the same way I have a right to dislike a bike. There is a difference between having and using one's brain and I said "used" not "have".

Seeing that my post evoked a negative emotion from you and I care about it, I will like to spend some time to justify.

If you read what i have said repeatedly in this thread, I consider that HD's lack finesse and are not VFM... what's wrong with that.. I presume nothing.

Now, Solely based on my dream, if I just walk into a HD store, listen to the sales pitch and pick up a bike, no evaluation and no comparison, I am fulfilling my dream. I have a right to do it and I deserve what I have got. However, I now have to live with it.

To my mind, if I had "used" my brain, I would have atleast compared the plethora of other options, as did Bankim and quite a few others and "may have been spared" in making an expensive mistake.

I have nothing against the Bullets, they are VFM in my view. RE does not rip people off as far as I can see and a Bullet owner presumably no other choice in that segment anyways.

FYI, I did not edit or make a single video uploaded on this thread. Hell, I did not even know these video's existed till I saw them here!

Lets not mix things here, my take in the discussion is and always has been about the bike not the folks at HD or the people who end up with one. If I talk about arrogance, it comes from FatBoy/Bankim who experienced it. If I talk about VFM and Finesse, its my experience and may help folks to buy one

I am perfectly OK to junk the Intruder to go in for a better option (if I can afford that better option) any day. I would always go for finessee and VFM you see.

But in a forum like xbhp which have a due respect for other bikes, this post is an exception...


As you have mentioned Bullets a VFM product, i definitely say NO because from my experience... if i say this with the words quoted like yours it will irritate many Bullet fans... that's all i meant
