Does your bike have this problem?
2008 bikes had it. Some of the 2009 ones had it too.
Havent come across any 2010 bikes which have had that problem
Any which way...even the 08 and 09 bikes had them sparingly and randomly. All bikes didnt have that problem

My bike doesnt have the problem
The only problem my bike has is that its effin fast

For the love of God !!! there is no problem in post 08 blades !!! you know what even if you have to put a litre of oil every month, blade is still worth it...
May the torque be with you..

          • Notes in my diary :
The Blade is such a big badass when it comes to being a complete package that riding it is fun whatever the downside be to it or however ugly it may be to the beholders eye ! Total control ! The more aggressively you begin throttling the bike the more composed and calm its chassis gets. The more you throw at the bike the more it can swallow.
The faster you go the finer is the communication with the chassis. Basically from 0k to 12k rpm the blade only gets better all the time. No flat spot..no bullshit..epic midrange..god i love the blade.
I met Fireblah yesterday and i saw love in his eyes for the bike.
We shed some tears of happiness while sharing a city ride in Pune and am sure he cant wait to get back to his baby in Kolkatta anymore.
Good luck ride safe mate !

            • Noob Question

              Is this correct.
              Low Range = 0 To 5K
              Mid Range = 5K To 10K
              High Range = 10K To 15K

Its been my understanding or dont know is it a misunderstanding

Also what does one mean when this bike has a good low or good mid or good high.

Is it the bike accelerates smoothly in that rpm range.

Does flat spot mean the bike peaks at a particular rpm and doesnt rise above that.

I know these might be total noob questions but if someone can answer it , it wud really help a lot.

After reading a lot of reviews online i have come to understand that the Fireblade has the best Mid Range and the BMW S1000RR has the best high range.

              Thanks.

I am a Honda Fan for life for making the awesome CBR 600RR and mindblowing CBR 1000RR Fireblade.
and when i read all praises about the bike it just tells me that i wasnt wrong in becoming a Honda Fan.

The blade is my favourite liter class bike. I plan to get one within the next two years, have my eyes set on the 08 since I won't be able to afford a new one and I want a legal bike with Indian billing. Hence looking into the issues with it, is it wrong to ask for such information?

                  • I rode ten-huts blade through the lavassa hills a couple of weeks ago. here are my thoughts . I normally ride a 2004 zx10 that has upgraded brakes, suspension and is in complete track form with the correct gearing for Philip island and atop speed of 270-280. it was a bit wierd getting onto a foreign bike on a road like Indias but the Honda handled it surprisingly well. The suspension was very very soft, completely different to what my zx10 is like even in street trim. hence why zx10's are considered a track specific bike.! The suspension on the blade wouldnt handle a place like PI very well on a setup like this but it was perfect for the really bumpy roads in India.

Once I was on the better part of Lavassa which was still bumpy and mostly off camber, I wouldnt mind setting it up stiffer but it was still good. A major reason for this was the front springs that are progressive so I could tell the bike was blowing through the first part of the fork stroke really quickly and then settling. Not very confidence inspiring compared to what I ride on the track. This is mainly due to the fact that the bikes are made for people from 60 kilos to 100 kilos and a pillion. hence to get them to handle for YOU , one needs to change the springs and then the geometry of the bike for yourself with comes after a fair bit of playing around on the track.

The engine however was a completely differnt story. compared to the zx-10 I could get onto neutral throttle very very easily. it was amazingly smooth. I havent ridden the new zx10 so I cant compare that but the throttle was really easy to apply smoothly and progressively.

I didnt really rev it out but with the gearing I am running on the zx-10, the 10 feels like it has more grunt than the blade. mainly coz I can crack the trottle and the front comes up from mid revs as well. I have gone one tooth down on the front of the 10 and 2 up on the rear sprocket meaning a lot more acceleration. The blade probably needs the same but on the road in the wrong hands, that setup can be quite dangerous. it reduces the top speed but increases acceleration dramatically. not an issue because how often do you spend time over 270???

I am sure with the right gearing and setup, this bike would absolutely fly!!! Now I cant wait to ride a bike with traction control!!

all up. its an incredible bike for indian roads and a really easy superbike to live with in india compared to the r1 or the zx10.

You need to elaborate to me how to read that ! I am in a learning phase where I look very hard for feedback but I feel I am looking at all the wrong places. I will PM you on FB on this.

I had that setup on my 600RR ! The 1000 overpowers me so bad that I aint gonna do any sprocketing on that for a very long time

Was fantastic having you here Angad ! I am trying to arrange for a trackday. Will let you know if anything is working out !
Having the track setup inputs for track when riding with you should broaden my sport thinking so trying hard for that !

I went through exactly what you are going through when I started out riding. I thought too much about suspension and wanted to be the fastest rider on the first day. unfortunately it doesent work like that. on the road, you are too busy negotiating other stuff like cars, pot holes etc etc to actually have any time left over to see what the bike is saying to you. on a closed circuit, all that noise is gone and you can listen to the bike better and improve your riding taking the same corners over and over again.

about the springs, when you get on the brakes, the first part of the stroke in the forks is quite soft and then the bottom part is harder to keep the bike from bottoming out. if you brake in a straight line, you will notice it. and when you change to linear springs, you will really notice it!

I think for your weight, 0.95 rate springs will be good. The rear, I am not too sure of but it felt pretty good. I dont know if you can get those springs here though?????? have a look on some blade forums to see what they have done suspension wise. once the springs are done, we can work on bike geometry for optimal handling. like adding rear ride hieght or pulling the forks throguh the clamps. again you need to do this on track bikes as its not all that important for the road.

suspension is probably the biggest link to confidence along with tires. and more confidence = better riding.
