. I think you should seriously consider putting Limbu Mirchi on the bike to avoid such incidents.

DUDE!!! I had told you it would rain today! Why did you take the Blade out? Look what you have done do Devil's blade!Originally posted by TenHut View PostFull leather suit with a full length back protector ! To be honest the crash wasnt a bad one at all. I just slid on my back and didnt tumble nor was the world upside down. I am fine and dandy ! Will go through the xray machines in the evening to make sure my bones aint playing tricks on me.
To be honest the blade is not that badly damaged. Every damage other than the rear rim and gear shift rod is cosmetic. Changing plastics is easy so I aint worried about it.
What is pissing me off, especially since I am at home right now thinking about the crash, is the mistakes that I committed when in a corner. Not one..not two..but I made like a bunch of basic blunders all together all at once.
Thanks all.
P.S.: Good to read that you are alright. Ride safe... Try to keep the rubber side downAdvice is a form of nostalgia.

I feel bad for the crash. Since you are a person who puts safety first, i am surprised that you crashed. Can you please put the crash as it happened?? I mean how did it happened? This will really help us, noobs, to corner better.Originally posted by TenHut View PostFull leather suit with a full length back protector ! To be honest the crash wasnt a bad one at all. I can't believe my eyes, but then, $h!t happens.
I hope you will emerge an error-free rider post this low-side. I have tried to and have been largely successful. (If you ain't crashing, you ain't riding hard enough

How long would it take for her to be back on road?
How have your A* taken to their smooch with the tarmac? New lips/leathers on anvil? Did your Shark hit the ground too?Last edited by sheelpriye; 10-16-2010, 10:32 PM.

@TenHut: Sorry to hear about your spill and hope to see your fine steed back singing again, you're an inspiration...
Always wanted to ask you...Did you get to ride that lean and slide machine at CSS?
Reminds me of the four times I lost my front end in recent times, 3 of which I recovered... Oddly, I hardly knew anything about either the streak of water or the sand trail I went across mid corner to have done anything about either coz I was looking into the corner. The one time I did see the water cross my line I had to get a leg out to keep me from washing out, followed by very violent head shake and the bike very nearly threw me off. Anyway what I figured from all this was... The body automatically tenses up when it senses danger and that is such a hard habit to break, The times I did manage to keep from falling (barely), I was already very relaxed (heck I was oblivious to the deck)... So important to relax on the bars, it very literally is not funny

Shoot man! That is not good.
But the most important thing is being okay. Hope you're fine...
And one thing I should tell you is atleast you crashed while putting the bike to good use. Not on arrow straights or shitty helmet-less wheelie-ing... Its an expensive mistake, but maybe it was just bad luck.
You get the point?? :D

Thanks guys !
I came home and was feeling alright when I posted the pics. It took a while for the crash to sink in.
You come home and try and anaylse why it happened and what should be done to ensure it doesnt happen again. When you do that you end up feeling like shit. This should have never happened...but happen it did and as much as I would wanna undo it I cant do shit about it
I dozed off at 1500 hrs only to get up now..3 am.
I woke up with a terrible body ache but thats about it. I think I am doing fine.
The leathers are still intact...no need for new leathers. A* or any other good leathers can take more than 5 mediocre lowsides for sure.
Analysing a crash always ends up throwing you in a state of utter despondency..but its necessary to understand why one crashed. I have tried my best to know what happned and have asked all the fellow riders who were there to know what REALLY happened.
I have multiple takes to this crash :
- I entered the corner with a quick flick as my turn in point was late. So far so good..now I tried to do mid corner steering corrections.
- The tyres could indeed have been cold but I am not sure. I have entered that corner at higher speeds and not crashed..so entering too hot wasnt the reason for the crash. If I entered too hot I would remember panicking. I dont remember panicking..I was cool as ice when in lean and felt like any other time when I am in that particular corner.
- The tyres could be squared of due to all the straight line high speed bursts on highway. I was on OEM Dunlop qualifiers which according to some experienced riders should have been binned for a stickier tyre for the kind of riding I was doing. I was to get Michelin Power Ones today but apparently a day too late

The most important point in the above noted reasons is the fact that has been highlighted in red.
I tried to do mid corner steering corrections. Riders who saw me, saw me leaning the bike..then picking it back again then leaning again. The second time I leaned it I could have been on max lean but thats hard to believe as I was only warming up to the corners and the rear still had chicken stripes. So clearly the front was lost not due to excessive lean angle but due to rider input at whatever lean the bike was at( it was at considerable lean if not excessive)
Why were mid corner steering corrections necessary ?
Usually you will need to steer when in corner when you realize you are going wide or when you realize you are over shooting your line.
I never felt I was going wide nor was I overshooting the corner. I remember being loose at the bars so much so that I was hardly holding onto them. Then why did I do steering corrections in the corner ? I dont really know to be honest. I did what felt right when in that corner
What was the rider input ?
I remember rolling off the throttle when in the corner and then rolling it back up again. This in conjunction with the steering corrections is the most probable cause for the crash.
One thing is for sure. I overloaded the front. This will happen if
- I chop the throttle or do not roll off the throttle gradually.
- I am trail braking.
- mid corner steerign corrections at lean
I wasnt trail braking for sure as I have never nourished that habit and almost never ever do it. The corner I crashed is a tight left hander and there is no way in hell I will ever trail brake there.
So its either chopping off the throttle or doing mid corner steering corrections at considerable lean. I think I did both.
When we arrived early in the mornign at our favourite mountain road I was telling my other rider friends I had ridden there with that the front felt really heavy to steer for I was running on low PSI levels than usual. Could that have been the cause ? Not entirely..maybe it only contributed very little to the crash but surely that wasnt the sole reason for the crash. All I know is I am never riding with uncomfortable psi levels again.
I will continue analysing ( more like continue wondering) for the coming days as to why I crashed but will never really know the exact reason for it. I will know one thing for sure though...I wouldnt have crashed if I were good in my riding input to the bike.
I guess shit happens and thats how the whole world works. Shit happens.
I am bloody selfish person but if I ever found a genie who granted me three wishes I would ask him to undo all my crashes as my first wish and proceed to request him to undo those of my friends too as my second and third wish.
Crashes suck..
At the fag end of it all...I now remember the words that my CSS coach Andy Ibbott had for me on the first day
"Its not IF you will crash..its WHEN you will crash...."
