The latter is not true...a bicycle doesnt counter-steer under 25kmph and you dont ride a bicycle over 25kmph. Depends on the bicycle ofc so dont quote me on "25kmph"
If you read popular mechanics (the hard copy) they dont mention anything that wiki mentions after the sentence..wiki is edited while PM isnt. Since you are thinkign I copy pasted you are thinking I filtered important part out. I did not.

Yeah I wasnt saying anything about the 25kmph part. K, all I meant was the incomplete sentence doesnt make much sense without quoting the whole "story".

Good for you. I have done some track riding but honestly at my amateur level I am still searchign for the feedback that the world talks about. If you can tell the difference in the feedback by making a suspension changes then its great. I still cant. You must be gifted.

Just like most of the riders that talk about feedback, Im definitely not gifted :P Ive just done enough riding to feel the difference.

    • A bicycle does counter steer at any speed you want ! go try it now. I went to school for 4 years on my BSA slr and Hercules ATB ... and I know
But guys my gf is saying why am i joining this debate ..
its pointless... Tenhut fell down and broke his crown .. that should be the end of it
May the torque be with you..

the suspension may not make a diffrence on track but on street it makes a big diffrence , i have setup my fireblade to the soft most setting possible by turning the small screws towards the "S" and it has made the ride comfortable it does not fly on those small bumps on the road. gives a rather confident feeling. i suggest try it you only need a screwdriver just remember the number of turns and then you can set it back.
i am a total noob to superbikes 6500km done in 1 year, so confidence in riding is important rather than zero G feeling every now and then.

Do tell me how much the repair cost and how much did the insurance pay. just so that i know (i got the grey 2009 model) and plan for the same. crashed do happen.
Intrestingly your footpeg is intact, i broke mine while putting it on the side stand that did not engage and the bike fell to its side.weird.

The point is...while you are looking for some feedback from the Blade the Blade is looking for some feedback from you. Its a symbiotic relationship.

It's taken me a while to get around to this thread, but oh-my-you-should-try-motorcycles-dear-God, this has to be simply the most awesome piece of writing I've seen in a long long time! Road testers can wax eloquent about an exquisite piece of machinery using the most fancy words, but I swear there is nothing that compares to the feral contagious excitement of a biker who is verrry capable of penning them bunch of tangled emotions into words. I salute.

I also chanced upon the last few pages where you've mentioned a crash, hope the recovery is strong.

                Cheers mate. Ride on!

I've got some buddies who think of R1 as the god of motorcycles. I on the other hand am a CBR kinda guy. The quoted excerpt from page 1 is by far the best thing that I've read on the net that describes why the CBR if not better, but surely is more sensible than the R1. Sending my R1 crazed friends this text right now.

Wonderfull thread tenhut, you are a very good writer and an equally good rider. The crash was a saddenning event, but everyone who has been riding enough has been through them, the best one can hope for is that the riding gears show their worth at that time and that the rider and the ride can recover from the crash, both physically and mentally.

How is the blade doing these days? Have you got her fixed?
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

                      Hello guys,
I came acorss this thread pretty late but I have gone through all the posts in here ... well almost. First of all I would like to congratulate Tenhut on his Blade and second, I am glad that he was wearing his protective gear which saved his skin. One of the biggest dangers to your self and the bike when riding on the road is when you make contact with a wall, central reservation, a barrier or worse another vehicle.

As for the stuff mentioned above, the suspension makes a big difference on the track. More that it would make on the street. The importance is not the comfort but the handling of the bike. Which is why, you have to measure static sag, stiction, dynamic sag, and also calculate according to rider weight. In most situations, we have to go aftermarket as the spring rate is not usually suitable for riders above a certain weight.

Common terms that you would come accross while setting up your suspension are Preload, rebound damping, compression damping, spring rate, etc.

                      Hope this helps.

Today there are no good bikes and bad bikes. They are all designed and developed differently and performance on all these bikes are tp notch with only a marginal difference seperating them. Ive can safely say that I have had good exposure to most of the manufacturers/bikes/models and it finally boils down to your comfort level. Personally I think the Kawasaki ZX-10 and the suzuki GSXR 1000s are great but my comfort level is always with a Honda and that is where my heart is. The number of Hondas that I have owned will vouch for that.

The 600cc supersports are the way to go (they are lethal machines) if you must own a sport bike in India where there is hardly any space/opportunity to experience what the bikes are capable of. Its only the pleasure of owning them. Infact, if I had to be in India, I wouldnt want to own a sportbike. I would rather have a naked bike (just my 2 cents).

600cc Nakeds like the FZ6 or the Triumph Street Triple, etc. All manufacturers make them. Even a 400cc would be great.
