Restoring a RX 135 4s

Are you sure? From my knowledge there're only 2 CDI's they sell, RXG & RD. If you are not interested in the power, curve etc, you can simply take their RXG CDI & connect to the stock wires leaving all other performance wires.Originally posted by dafc View PostSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

yeah I shot an email to Ron a while ago regarding the whole CDI thing and he said he stopped making them for RX 100 because there are too many "compatibility" issues, he said I can try the RXG cdi the only thing is the couplers are different and the last time I checked he has retracted the guarantee on the CDIs due to faulty install, people have been blowing up loads of CDIs, so I was eeeh I don't wanna blow 3k INR to smithereens :P and then there was a post regarding how he has almost run out on RXG CDIs and the next batch is booked already. So hurrrrrrr you'll be lucky if you get one and man oh man oh man I can go forever about the CDI I have had the chance to drive an RD running on Ron's CDI and it was totally different from your regular RD man. It was revving up like I don't what I don't have the words to explain it lolOriginally posted by aargee View PostAre you sure? From my knowledge there're only 2 CDI's they sell, RXG & RD. He should be pissed off really!!!
Nothing to worry, just pull out stock wires & fit this one that's all. If you're not experienced, take 3-4 days of time to install. You'll suffer, but not fail. Nothing to worry, its complex initially, but once you learn its simple.Originally posted by dafc View Postso I was eeeh I don't wanna blow 3k INR to smithereens :P and then there was a post regarding how he has almost run out on RXG CDIs and the next batch is booked already.
Yes, it revs free, but that's not only due to CDI, its also due to 90/100. I've them plonked on mine running successfully...again ALL DONE BY MYSELFOriginally posted by dafc View PostSo hurrrrrrr you'll be lucky...I don't have the words to explain it lol

Damn what?!?! I thought it was the CDI!!? Isn't the CDI supposed to cap the RPM? And what about the trial and error you know if you get the timing wrong lulz will ensue like the engine will overheat and stuff you can blow it up easilyOriginally posted by aargee View PostYes, it revs free, but that's not only due to CDI, its also due to 90/100. ((( What's the aftermarket CDI for then?

All I'm saying is, get your vehicle to stock position first with the CDI. You can carry on the AM mods later. And the stock position can be done by you & take the AM mods to people who have real brains & not posers.Originally posted by dafc View PostI thought it was the CDI!!? @DAFC: It is the CDI which gives you the free revving engine due to better curve. But for this CDI to work at the optimum level, its advisable to plonk the 90/100 kit from RDD. Its because the CDI requires sufficient and good supply of power which may not come through a stock kit.
However, as per a post in RDDreams by Ron, he's pulling back the RXG CDI off the market. Here's the link to it:

Coming back to Spare Parts hunt, got a few more parts today from Orion Motors, Bangalore;
1) Lock Set (ignition, fuel cap & tool box) however the ignition is circular which came with the 2003/4+ RX 135.
2) Tachometer & Tacho Gear Drive
3) 5s kicker. The existing one scrapes the silencer.
4) Foot rest & rubber/cover.
The pivot lamp doesn't seem to be available here. Also the tachometer cable. Waiting for December to end so I can procure a few more parts. I've already spent 5K this month for RDD CDI & the above parts. Till date, total parts cost is 8K.
I'm sure by the time its complete, the total cost would reach around 25K.

The CDI is NOT DEPENDANT upon 90/100. The power source for CDI is from battery. So its important to keep ELECTRICALS & BATTERY in good condition. Go through that forum once again.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I guess that's what even I said. But the reason for bringing in the 90/100 kit was that it does a better job than the stock to keep the battery in good shape which in turn benefits the CDI.Originally posted by manarcane View Post@aargee: Correct me if I'm wrong about the CDI & 90/100 kit from RDD. This is what I could figure out from the posts in RDD forums.
Most places it was mentioned to keep the battery & electrical in good condition.
Thanks for your clarifications...

Again this is not right; the CDI doesn't suck away all the DC power like a fruit juice!!! If one needs 90/100 to stay the battery in shape, then what justification can you give to ppl who're using the digital CDI with stock generator? Would they run out of charge in middle of no where?Originally posted by manarcane View PostBut the reason for bringing in the 90/100 kit was that it does a better job than the stock to keep the battery in good shape which in turn benefits the CDI.
I give up as I'm tired of explaining, go through RDD forum if you're interested to learn more. All I can say is, you're basics are more of assumptions with only half right. Ask your questions over there. Sorry!!!Originally posted by manarcane View PostI guess that's what even I said.Last edited by aargee; 12-23-2010, 09:10 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

@Aargee: I'm not denying the fact that the CDI can run on the stock coil, neither questioning N numbers of people using the CDI with the stock coil.
My point is, if the CDI is better with the stock coil, its only the best with the RDD coil.
Plus, you get a coil which is lighter than the stock and an amazing light output to lightup your street.
