    • hi friends,
I am in the process of buying a yamaha rx135 5 speed (2001) model with cat-con in decent condition ,running on first oversize piston. As i have not experienced the 5 speed machine (though read a lot) practically, i want to know about the actual facts about it from owners. As per my knowledge (thanks to xbhp) it is very near to 4s in the terms of handling, looks etc. But what about the power, acceleration and fuel consumption. For your information ,most of the time i am sedate driver. Please reply friends and 5s owners. I am eagerly waiting.

i dont have much technical knowledge ..but do go for a 5 speeder..its a complete different experience that say RX 100..i have never enjoyed 2 strokes as much as on 5 speed ..its such a smooth ride it really doesnt bother me that it doesnt have the famous exhaust note..

                  Hello friends,
I am again here for your sincere advice and guidance. The bike mentioned in earlier posts (rx135 4speed 2002) was running on last bore 1mm piston size. It had clocked some 2000 km (In three years )only but unfortunately due to mishandling ring was broken and bike is now with mechanic. Now suggest me the possible options . As per my mechanic I can opt for next oversize (depends upon the availability ) or resleeving. I am not very keen for new bore kit as I use this bike very less i.e. 500-1000 km per year. My mechanic is very confident about the resleeving as he is a very experienced person with 2 stroke bikes and according to him ,had witnessed many resleeving jobs.
                  regards.

Piston ring is broken then replace it. If there are damages to the liner then look for any deep scratches if not, just replace the rigs and use it.

Since you are not going to ride more than 500-1000 kms, then why you want to take the headache of reboring?
Resleeving at this point not required. You still have two more oversized to go over.

                      Thanks for reply,
I will go for new rings if possible. Can you through some light that only rings are available separately or both ring and piston to be replaced ? My bike has noise and vibration in the engine , what may be the possible cause ? Should I perform some repair in lower part of engine also ?
                      regards

What spares to be changed necessarily while performing overhaul of lower part of engine ? like bearing, oil seals etc ?

hi, friends , I am here again with updates about the rx135 mentioned earlier.

                        1. Unable to find ring and piston above 1 mm size and due to unavailability of original part in my area I opted for resleeving of block as suggested and assured by my mechanic.
                        2. All engine bearings and seals etc replaced with original or skf (as per availability).(sourced from Bangalore.)
3.Only SAM-KRG brand standard size piston and rings available here in varanasi so went with that.
4.2 days spent in full engine rebuilt ,one day in resleeving in varanasi and other in reassembling the engine.
5.Bike come to life after almost 6 month.
6.Performance is good as per my sense, slight overheating block in first 100 km but now decreasing.
7.The only problem felt is that I am not getting the constant beating of engine sound, it seems intermittent below 40 but above 60kmph all is good.
8.not measured the fuel efficiency but it is somewhere between 25-35.
for any more info please feel free to ask.
                        thanks and regard

When you sourced parts from bangalore why didn't you get Original ART standard piston? Check the jets for any particles inside for the missing. Or it can be because of carb tuning also.

Wait for the running in time for the engine up to 1000 kms. Till that don't give sudden throttles and keep the speed below 45. Put little more 2t oil if its prmix or adjust oil pump to increase the flow than usual for running time.

Thanks for reply...I come to understand the cause. My carb was tuned for rich fuel mixture when it was tuned for lean , the problem disappeared. During the run in period i used extra 2t in petrol as well as 2t from oil pump also. I had very bad things about the resleeving but atleast for me it proved good. Currently my bike is giving 35kmpl on normal riding.
                            thanks

                              Hi friends,
Reappearing here after a long time. The rx135 mentioned in thread is still with me, but about to be sold. I brought the vehicle to Bangalore along with NOC with intend to sell it here.
Mean while my addiction to 2 stroke is continued and now I am proud owner of 2 Nos. of RX135 5 Speed. Both were in very bad shape when I bought them, One of them is restored to original condition recently. Second one is running but in bad condition. I will inform about my restoration in a new thread.
                              Thanks

Some recent observations about my Rx135 4 speed.
                              1. Despite being sleeved it doesn't get too hot, thanks to the turner for impeccable work.
                              2. On its last long run the fuel efficiency was 46.33 Km/L . It is unexpected with 100% full proof measurement.
                              3. It never gives visible smoke except when engine/ cat con is cold. Even I tested with rich 2T ratio. what may be the reason ?

                              Thanks
