    arae bapre!...gr8 restoration there..!

1987!!...Its 'KB100' or 'KB100 RTZ'?. We had a discussion about KB100s in '2-Stroke Indian bikes' and I came to know that Early KBs(Japan) where 'KB100's not 'KB100 RTZ'.

    What about your bike?

There's a KB 125 near where I live. Was wondering whether I should buy that and restore it or should I salvage it for parts? Any suggestions out there?

only if you have sources at countries like Pakistan or Singapore or even Thailand where you can still be able to get the spares. Searching for spares in India for the 125 is nearly impossible esp. the bore piston kit. We have some very dedicated members having the 125 at Xbhp and they might help you out.

in my limited knowledge, it would depend on the state that the KB125 is in. as Yamdoot pointed out, the cylinder is difficult to get and i'm sure you'll know that the cylinder being chrome coated can not be re-bored. most of the parts that are available are after martket spares - the quality of which is suspicious. you've done a wonderful job with your KB100, so the experience and the knowledge gained will be of immense advantage if you plan to restore it.

if you want to buy it for salvaging parts, it may help to an extent. the crankcases are different though the engine covers are alike. most of the smaller parts are quite the same.

by the way, i could benefit from your experience. please have a look at your inbox - i've sent you a message.

kb125 had a hard chrome bore (i think it ran regular ci rings ) while the kb100 had chrome plated piston rings

can't use chrome rings in a chrome plated liner the motor will die, so the 125 had a chrome plated liner that's damn good. Good on you lads
what's the average life of a KB125 motor? I am talking about moderate to real hard ripping like most of the 2 bangers undergo not talking about the uncleji kinda driving.

Even the Bajaj Sunny had a hard chrome bore.

Amen to that! You dudes were right! Its damn hard to source parts for the KB125! It wasn't as popular as even the KB100 it seems (which is also rare).

                              In separate news:
New heights of 4-stroker stupidity. At a red light near Hauz Khas in Delhi a rider on on a platina actually asked me if it was possible to convert my KB to a 4 stroke so as to get better mileage! LMAOROFL!
