Yamaha RX100 pilot/parking light mod.
Hello Everyone,
Searched a lot for similar thread or info but couldn't find so starting a new thread, admin please approve it.
So coming to the point, RX100 has a provision to keep the pilot/parking light on when the ignition switch is turned ON and bike is OFF. Photo of the handle switch is attached.

I would like to modify it such that when I turn the parking light on it should also turn the Taillamp and speedometer lights on, for the power consumption I will be switching to led for parking light ,speedometer lights and also for taillamp.
I asked the same thing to my mechanic he did it but when the headlight is switched ON taillamp and meterlights go OFF. So please help me to do the wiring.
Experts please suggest something for this.
Thanks in advance.ABHISHEK

Re: Yamaha RX100 pilot/parking light mod.
I own an original 86 Rx100 and I can tell you that when the parking lamp is on the speedometer light and taillight should be on too. Its not to specifically switch on the one parking lamp bulb. At least I have seen only that on my bike which is a completely unmodified, bone-stock Rx100 with the original wiring still intact, unspliced and fully usable.Originally posted by akale6463 View PostHello Everyone,

Re: Yamaha RX100 pilot/parking light mod.
The Position/Parking light, Speedometer light and Tail light are all on the same circuit, operated by the same switch (as it is required this way in the regulations).Originally posted by akale6463 View PostHello Everyone,

The difference could be that some of them come on with the ignition key, while others come on through a relay with the engine running (because they need power from the ACG or they will drain battery)
1 reason that other lights go off when headlights come on could be that the headlight is drawing too much current, and the ACG/battery is not providing sufficient power for the rest - assuming your mechanic did not screw up.
1 general method is to find a matching colour wire at the switch side and at the RR (Regulator) side. ASSUMING that this is the wire that carries power from the Rectifier to the lighting, cut the wire at the RR side and connect it to one of the wires coming out of the fuse box. That will ensure all lighting works through the Ignition switch, and does not require engine start, but it will drain your battery.
But unfortunately, it is difficult to give clear instructions as to how to achieve what you want without opening the bike personally and tracing the different wires OR without access to the design of the wiring on the bike, so you may be on your own on this one. And you will be doing the above at your own riskRides:

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Buying an rxz here in Bengaluru is a terrible idea as of now. They demand their own rates above 100k. I thought to restore an rxz from scratch if its in scrap condition. I got quoted above 60k for a scrap rxz. So I thought buying a scrap rx135 is easy and might look to modify it to rxz and restore it completely. Can u tell the steps and parts to be replaces? Thank you

Buy from states like Kerala or gujarat , u will get nice deal .. if u have a good engine then just buy the rxz chassis and built on it .. that is also a good idea ..Originally posted by Rahul Ramesh View PostBuying an rxz here in Bengaluru is a terrible idea as of now. Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
Hello fellow xbhpians, I'm planning on buying a rx100 and I've got one for a really cheap price (35k). The owner is an old guy who AFAIK has maintained it properly. I'm going to check it out this weekend and being a newbie to 2 strokes, what are the things I should check for to know if the bike is really in a good condition?

Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
I think 35k for an rx100 is little high. First you should check for bore and engine sound. Secondly , check for oil leaks. Also check for chassis and fork for bends. If it is below '92 , well u can actually go for it as it is a japan engine.Originally posted by Nairettan View PostHello fellow xbhpians, I'm planning on buying a rx100 and I've got one for a really cheap price (35k). Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
This guy told me that the oil pump is screwed [emoji23] and that he premixes it. I'll check for the bends for sure[emoji4]. For the pricing part, I live in kochi and I've heard that rx100s usually go at rates higher than this, but Idk man. Thanks and cheers. Btw, can you tell me how do I check for bore and sound? I mean, is there something specific that I can know as soon as I see it? (remmember that I'm a rookie! Re: Random Questions regarding the RX series
For the RX 100, the cylinder should read Yamaha 98CC on the LHS below the cylinder. Check the carb. As far as the bore is concerned, you would need to open the cylinder and check if it's sleeved or still on stock (highly unlikely). All the other spares are still available (I believe) at our YASS spare parts shop near kaloor. But machaane if you get a genuine piece for 35k, it's worth the grab. I personally would not however look for an RX 100, coz for me it's the power and the RX100 lacks compared to the RX135 OR an RXZ. If you would really want to keep a vintage bike just for your passion then go for it.
