I dunno whether the factory tank insides are plated or coated. But if you try to plate the inside it wont cover the insides totally. Then petrol and/or 2t will peal it off.

You need some kind of epoxy based paint. The kind they use on the inside of tankers.

i am using a new tank for the last few months and im running premix in it so far i have not seen anything get eaten by the petrol inside my fuel tank , if the metallic coating gets dissolved the you will have worse problems like clogged carburettor or worse seized engine

I saw a video on youtube(i don't remember the name of the video), in which the guy used an epoxy based paint as rightly mentioned by bibhu, but the paint that person was using tends to get hard as rock after drying and it has to be applied by some jugad method, like using a cloth tied to an end of a stick dipping it in the paint and then juggling with the tank, but that method is very tedious and if some part of the petrol tank is not coated with the paint then the rust will start from there and will eventually spread to the whole tank, and yes i have seen newer rx's tank which seems to be coated with zince(that what they look like).

There used to be a tank re-coating kit by escorts themselves. Had a cleaner to clean the rust. It apso had a epoxy coating solution. They used to put it inside the tank and revolve it untill the coat spred evenly and form a good layer. Por15 has to be applied the same way i guess.

Like i said, factory sealed new tanks may be coated or plated. I dunno about that. But when you try to plate the tank in a plating facility, there is a high chance that you will miss some places inside. Thus giving petrol a chance to peel it off.

The tank coating which was marketed by escorts is still available but not at yamaha showrooms, it was made by the company called Anand C.I.S., actually my bike tank is also rusting not hugely but small spots are appearing, so my mechanic showed me a new rx tank and it appears to be coated or plated i think so (iam not expert) and he also said that newer tanks are zinc coated, but yes you are right may be factory tanks are coated may be not, coating the existing one is not advisable, any how how is your bike brother have you ridden it or not.

I need your help.........
As it is a common problem faced by us all in our RX's.......
Is it possible to use the DC output of this RR unit to power the headlamp instead of utilizing it to charge the battery.....

So as to not make any changes to the coil setup in the bike......

Thanks........

no it is not possible to use the dc output to power the headlamps , the reason being that the dc output to the battery supplies just enough power to keep the battery in a charged state by topping up the charge when the voltage drops below a certain point.
in the pulsar set up what abhijeet has done is to convert the ac output from the rr to dc and then use it to power the lights .
with out a coil change it is pretty difficult to get the required power output to run higher wattage headlamps

kb100 and @All seniors...
I built my own RR unit as in this one

But the wiring of the bike was getting heated up very much and the battery was draining so I disconnected the Stock RR unit and placed my bike on the Custom RR unit for some time.....
I checked the output of the Custom RR unit which is 13.8 V at idle(i.e. 1200 rpm) and 13.8 V at 4000 rpm....
But my battery is still 2.5 A battery.... so I think its not being able to handle all this load....

What are your opinions????................

After referring to the Charging system and Lighting system diagrams from the workshop manual it seems that AC comes through the Yellow/Red & White/yellow wire....
So to get power from both the coils(Lighting & Charging) to charge my battery I have to provide the input to my custom RR from both these wires???
Am I going right??

but its there for a reason I would not disturb it

Recently my bike too had the same problem.....it was leaking oil from the right hand side of the crankcase....i diagnosed the prob to be that the oilpump's oil seals had worn out.....so I changed them and the problem was gone...but if your mech says that the pump is damaged then check it first with another reputed mech and if it's truly damaged then change it
3) Recently kicker rod broke and there are no spares available in bangalore. Please help me know where i can get the kicker rod and other spares in bangalore
RX135's kick Lever is available, check with other shops the might be having it or else use crux or ybx100's lever
4) My Mechanic also pointed that it stops when we are on lower throttle .
check and clean the carburetor and ask a experienced tuner to tune it...if you have serviced your bike recently then your carburetor should be clean and you yourself can set the idling speed so that the engine doesn't stop on lower rpm.......

Try changing the reflectors, either the OE one or the reflectors from Swaraj Mazda / DCM Toyota.
The later options gives a better lighting (mostly the spread) compared to OE reflectors.
Shouldn't cost more than 300 INR for this change (reflector 150, bulb + holder 130)
