    congrats, your bike looks great.
The mechanic problem is the reason why i am doing everything self.
And once i started, i saw this as a great hobby. So even though some stuff is extremely boring and tiring, i keep at it. (eg. cleaning the frame and prepping it for paint...horrible)

    Regards

PS: will leave some comments on your thread to make it look more original, in case you want to.
get the painting done by a professional , you will have to hang over his head like the sword of Damocles , but in the end it will be worth it

      hi kb100

i am doing the frame painting myself, which is black and hence easy.
ofcourse, the coloured portions (tank, side panels etc) will goto a service center with a body paint shop.

      cheers

Go for paint baking for the entire bike...it is slightly expensive but paint stays good.....

          Hi PSR Sir

I was thinking to give the tank, side panels etc to a Maruti service center with a paint booth.
How do I check whether they have "baking" facility?
I hardly trust these guys, so if I ask "Do you have paint bake facility?", I am sure they will say YES !!

The frame is painted - 3 coats of VHT -> Dry for 5 days -> 3 clear coats of VHT.

I do not know about Maruthi,...but I do know that MRF used to have a paint booth with heated Paint drying in very dry and dust free conditions....
Anyway if the painting is done properly in dry condition then there will be no bubbles coming up later...give 3 coats of Clear on paint for protection...

              and....the assembly begins.

Quick question: where can I get the rubber-type black paint used in car underbody. Want to paint the undersides of mudguards.

Good collection of parts....In the Muffler core you can increase the hole size of the first section from engine ie., the section after the cone like structure, and it will increase your acceleration....
For the Protective paint, contact 3 M...under chassis protection .

You did the spokes yourself??????? Respect man........ deep respect
as for the under coat better get it painted it outside as the paint will probably be expensive and will need a spray-gun to apply it

Thank you for the suggestion sir. Once the bike is running, will go for this.

hehe....it is frustrating, but teaches you patience. really.

I just got myself some oil paint and painted the mudgiard insides. If the rubberized paint was readily available, I'd done it.
Dont want to run after 3M or any other workshops and bear thier attitude.
Had enough of it while getting the tank and side covers painted.

Thanks for your inputs and nice words.

Thats a lot of inventory which am sure you would have sourced it from many places. Great build up. The chassis really looks impressive after the paint job.

                          Friends....a quick update.

Today, kick started the RTZ first time post this restoration.
Sounds pretty good and idles well.
This tells me that I put together the pieces ok..hehe.
But am still wary about something going wrong.
Have read stories about pistons/cylinders cracking up soon after rebuilds due to something or the other.

Haven't ridden it today, as you can see its on my apartment lobby (10th floor).
Anyway, am happy today. Sharing a couple of photos.

                          cheers

Nice restoration man, if the bike engine is assembled properly and bike is ridden sanely during run in period then there should be no engine problem, are the spares of this bike easily available.Keep flying high man.

Awesome awesome job mate, very clean looking bike. Engine issues may be due to tuning issues. I havent gone through the whole thread unfortunately. Is the block new or rebored?

Spares are hard to comeby. Some spares like crank case and clutch cover etc are available with a friend.
