Re: KB100 RTZ - 18 yr old - Restore
thanks buddy, you have been very helpful with your advice.Originally posted by kb100 View Postsplendid job man.... btw are you running the correct sparkplug
Am running W8DC. Which I think is a hotter plug than W5DC. But it is a 'long' plug.
W5DC isnt available easily.
Should I try to gently hammer in the gap to make this one a W5DC or get a new one?
thanks man.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostNice restoration man, if the bike engine is assembled properly and bike is ridden sanely during run in period then there should be no engine problem, are the spares of this bike easily available.Keep flying high man
.
Spares are a nightmare, this isn't a very popular bike in Bangalore.

Spares are hard to comeby. Some spares like crank case and clutch cover etc are available with a friend.

thanks Bhibu.
Block is new
Do you mean the long metallic hollow cylinder that goes inside the hub, between the bearings at the ends?Originally posted by kb100 View Post@KB100RTZ: I believe you have used new wheel hubs for the bike , did you transplant the bearing spacers from the old hub to the new one , if not your wheels will not turn properly and while riding you will have a sticky feeling and you wheel bearings will fail prematurely
I did take the old ones and put them into the new hubs. Tried getting them new, but couldnt find them.

Re: KB100 RTZ - 18 yr old - Restore
get W5DC man you can get them from Royal enfield dealerships the old model(one spark plug/ avl engined) Thunderbird had it as standard kit and is available there for 109/- just remove the aluminium cap at the end of the plug and screw it onto the w5dc at the same placeand you are done (the 5dcs sold for for enfields normally do not have the adapter at the plug cap end)
yes the spacer it is the metallic cyl thing
PS: you CANNOT hammer a w8bc into a w5bc.........unless you are thor of courseKawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

Re: KB100 RTZ - 18 yr old - Restore
@KB 100 RTZ......Very good looking Restoration....A stock new bore takes 1,500 Kms of mild riding to set. Mak sure you adjust the Oil pump to give extra 2T oil to ensure proper lube...if you are using Pre-mix then go for 3% 2T oil ie., 30ml per liter of petrol. Keep varying RPM while riding, and choose early mornings, for setting in ride, since the cold outside temp helps to maintain the engine temp., relatively low. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

about the good things , if i dont say what need to be said (even if it isnt what most expect to hear ) nobody else will , please revert man , a friend of mine holed his piston after using hotter plugs (w160z2) , i dont want that to happen to you man ,not after this much of hardwork
Please forgive if my post has in some way dampened your spirits
one more thing do lube your rpm cable every 3-4k kms of running ,its simple just unscrew the cable from under your speedo console and just pour about 4-5ml of oil into the cable drop by drop, this will prevent the cable from rusting ,seizing up and finally shearing offKawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

kb100 sahib.....please dont apologize. I said that in an almost scared tone hoping such things dont happen.
Your inputs have been most valuable.
Will look for the partcode and the plug, esp the plug.
Will update soon.

try royal enfield dealership for the plug its part no is 500904/A ,there is no problem in starting the bike and letting it idle with the w8 plug ,the problem starts when you start rippingOriginally posted by KB100RTZ View PostHey..

Ok, will trip to the RE showroom. Checked 2-3 bike parts stores today for w5dc. No luck.Originally posted by kb100 View Posttry royal enfield dealership for the plug its part no is 500904/A ,there is no problem in starting the bike and letting it idle with the w8 plug ,the problem starts when you start ripping
Anyway, fabricated a part today which i havent been able to get anywhere here. This is the black plastic piece that goes above taillamp and below seat. As you can in photo, the original one's screw holders are broken.
Made this from an aluminium panel used in bldg panelling and a saw
. Need to paint this now.
