  • Hey awesome mod nitro!! The bike looks cool!! I too have done a few bits with my Yammy.. Posting a pic here as i am not sure if i should make a new thread for it.. The mod is close to two years old but never got the time to share it..

Will upload more pics and give details if anyone interested or you can tell me if i can make a new thread As i dont want to spoil nitro's bike thread..

Ohhh! I read it later that you already sold you bike and were not happy with the Mod.. Maybe my mod can jump in then.. Have been using this bike for a long time now( after mods also) and i must say its still a fun!! I do a Mumbai-Nashik travel almost twice a month all this while and never faced a problem!! Just a disadvantage i feel is the loud noise from the chamber..(Not the exhaust note.. the exhaust is awesome) but the chamber also makes noise as the exhaust waves hit it.. its actually only a problem when taking the bike out of society.. Not a big issue on-road.. More details on demand

        • Thanks Man!! The Monoshock and the Swingarm are both of Unicorn.. I had bought them new for around Rs.3100 (both).. But it works well. Infact my sis or freinds sitting behind say that it works better than on my pulsar 180..
The front fork and the disc setup is from pulsar.. i guess the new model.. without any height increase as i am just 5'6 and is enough.. (Though had increased the size on the yamaha forks before)
I use the bike for my college which is about 30kms daily and my nasik-mumbai trip once every two weeks.. Had a stabilty issue with the swingarm in beginning but got it solved with a sleeve in the swing-arm bush..

No sproketting done yet.. planing.. Also want to fit a 220 low beam projector inside the current fairing..(bought it already) but no time.. actually waiting for my new CBR250r.. The front forks IMO, also work better than on a pulsar because i feel the pulsar's front dips in as soon as you break due to its weight and severely affect the handling of a pulsar but on the RXZ, it works good with just an adequate dip. The air filter is K&N but i have covered it with a suzuki bowl type filter sponge for keeping the dirt away..
I cover a distance of 170kms in two and half hours with just one break in between and without any body pain later..

that's a neat fit!! i hope you can put a pic of the mono's with the mod you had done(the sleeve for bush) when you have time so that we(nitro especially ) can use that mod for further rebuilds!! !!

Sure! I will post more pics.. (they are on my lappy).. To give the idea about the bush, its a normal unicorn Swingarm bush with a metal sleeve build inside (from a lathe-wala) so that the RX's centre pin axle fits perfect.. Pics coming soon..
Any comment or suggestions on the paint job guys???!! As i am planning to get a new paint job (timepass) after i get my CBR..

                • Nice, but u havent mentioned anything about sprocketing. the reason i want to know is bcoz my bike had no low end torque what so ever, which i think was bcos the uni drums and rims were too damn heavy for the pint sized cycle. I had to constantly coax the clutch to get in the power band but then mine was ported with exhaust.

Quite amazed to hear the uni mono-shock works on your bike . But if your saying the pillions didnt complain thats possibly because of the extra weight acting on it. See the uni weighs abt 150kgs and the rx abt 108 I think, so the weight deficiency is solved by the pillion, I bet it would'nt be as supple if you went solo, but then to each his own. I think my problem was that I expected the thing to behave like a dirt-bike where as, lets be honest it was just a Rx on a ladder!. Mine was as stiff as a bloody gp bike. I mean seriously I was going flat out on the corners with just the tip of the studs providing grip . And I also presume you have never ventured off-road, I did! albeit for a very brief stint and the thing hopped like a freakkin kangaroo on a pogo-stick!

Oh and I had a few more problems too. The flat tyres......ohhhhh the no. of flats I got was unbelievable. Once every 2 weeks I think, I think it was bcoz I was running a tube-less tyre with a tube as my Rim cannot house a tube-less.

Anyways I bit the bug and now i dont like the taste anymore, partly the bike's fault but mostly my ignorance and lack of knowledge. Hey! but then we'r after all men and men dont like taking advises. But now i feel i could have done a lot better if I had just sat down nd gone through a few similar threads.

I was simply in awe after I rode a Kzma with similar enduro mods. Damn the low-end grunt of the thing is just so abundant and so useable that I made up my mind for my next project.
A Kzma or Fz with a 450 air or LC single cyl enduro engine with all the bananas. wish list includes-Gps, metal panniers, high wind screen, imported shocks, all fibre body .....hmmm the list goes on... A friend o' mine in thupai is trying to source a 450 engine as I write this...YIPPPEEEEE!

                  • Actually, nothing i did was a wake up and do job.. Every mod had an interval of more than two months and a sequential process with a lot of googling. Ya, i go Off-roading too. But i think it more as a trail/dual bike than MX.I know how mods go wrong but luckily i got them right and each one provoked me for the next mod! And haan, I am using a yamaha drum on rear.. why did you change to unicorn's?
As i said, the suspension work well even when solo..(but better when 2up) and i face no issues on long runs.. My engine is stock. The lack of low end torque may be because of the chamber. Believe me, i had my chamber done thrice. And the muffler!! Man i bet its the coolest thing on the bike.. People just find tuff time finding it.. Right now, i am using the stock silencer (changed it just yesterday) just wanted to hear the actual roar.. The bike also has a domino quick throttle with pro-grip grips. The rear rim is CBZ's and the tire 100/90 18. And yes, i had a GPS device and a cyclocomputer on it too (As an electronics engg, i keep on doing such tp).. but its now off the bike.

@dpak: Actually i was thinking on same lines.. Want to change the front mudguard to a normal one.. So welcome to your idea But a problem is, the forks are from a new pulsar with 17inch wheels. And my front wheel is 18". Also the steering hub(T- as they call it) is pulsar's. Any suggestion on that??

Yes, the Gladiator's front is a direct fit and goes well on RX but too difficult to source one..(atleast the time i modded).. plus i wanted more travel on the front forks.. so i chose pulsar's.

The paint job is cool! Not Indian.. and airbrush work!! i am a fan of Air-brush arts but dont find proper place to get it done.

                          • that is one sick rx you got right there nitro. have seen a lot of modded rx. but this one beats them all. like athul mentioned, this one deserves a 165cc kit! will need that torque to properly utilize this setups full potential.

oh yea.. any performance RX deserves to be faster. would you care to explain on how a 165cc will be better off with the present port setups and carb?

                              • More CCs does'nt necessarily translate to more torque. It depends on how that CC is increased. A longer stroke length can increase torque and a bigger diameter piston with relatively shorter stroke can increase power as the piston needs to travel a shorter distance and therefore can rev to a higher peak rpm. Which is why a v-twin of the same capacity is down on power but has more torque than the equvalent 4-cyl in-line engine.
