Many thanks to Pradeep (pyscho) for obliging with the test. The reading was 135. I would say not bad considering the bore clearances have increased. Not considering replacing the bore anytime soon.
AFAIK, 135psi above sea level is a good reading. Most RX100's I have checked ran 112-115 psi.

what do u suggest the compression reading for a RX135 5speed model should be???
    anything upwards of 120psi

    cheers

Here is Dilip Bam's take on compression. Lends somewhat of a scientific/mathematical basis. But I think experts here would disagree.

P.S: I had asked this question right after decarb and the reading then was 120.

Mine is hitting 160+psi, and ideal stock set up should be at 130-140psi.

compression is also engine specific. A high revving motor would usually be a low comp wheras a motor with a lower redline would always have a higher compression. This is because of exhaust port area and several other factors. Although this isnt a rule written in stone.

A good example here would be the RD350 HT and LT. A good healthy HT would have about 130psi at sea level, whereas a similarly setup LT with same pistons and clearances would throw about 140-155psi with just HT heads [lower squish gap from 2-4mm to 0.8mm]

            Cheers

It has been 3000kms since the rebuild and first problem comes in this form. I've given the tank to DTW for re-paint. He has agreed to do it FOC after ascertaining the cause.

Initial guess is petrol spillage. Plausible. I fill about 8-9litres of fuel after it comes to reserve. But it shouldn't matter if paint & workmanship is perfect. Lets see.

Tough to find an OEM one bro allthough Pradeep might still be able to help you on this one.

I dunno how the experts rate the pacco brand carbs but i got me one and it seems to be running real fine. You can always try that too

Yup, VM20 for 100. VM22 for RXG, mentioned in workshop manual. But some of us import VM24/26 flatslides from U.S.A
VM20 should be pretty easily available im Malaysia/Singapore. If all was well I should have been there by now..sigh!

Currently requesting one of our friendly tuner on the forum

Clutch bell is not such an indispensiable spare part I 'feel'. If the plates, gears, magneto are properly fitted (which would be coming from factory) I guess there should be no problem But yeah, for future use better to stock up.
