    No spares here

    Hi Nitin!

The moderator locked my thread and directed me here.

Tried Utkal Motors in Bhubaneswar but they have absolutely no rx100 spares. Will go to Grand in Cuttack sometime this week. Yes I have the tank in my mind. Any idea how much it'll cost? Also, since oem spares are hard to come by here can I buy non oem spares at least for the body parts like side/main stand, front footrest rod etc.

I got the bike engine opened today to change the main bearings. The bore/piston are still the stock one's that came with the bike. The mechanic said that we need to put size 2 piston and get it rebored in a couple of months. I'll attach some pic's of the bike getting opening in the evening. Need to go back to the garage now after lunch.

    Thanks again...

Going for non-OE side covers should be ok if you are unable to find OE. OE Tank+Side covers costs approx 3.5k.

In Bhubhaneswar try at Oberoi for RX spares. He has got some small stuff like OE petrol cap, float needle, etc. No tank though.

Do let us know the current spares scene, would be of great help to RXians

        RX100 Spares

I did try Oberoi. They dont have much oem parts so I ended up buying a skf main bearing and other non oem stuff for immediate repair. However, the good news is my friend from Udupi visited the yamaha showroom there and those guys said they'll get whatever oem parts I need if I place an order and pay an advance. And right now they have a rx100 bore piston kit with them for 3.5k. Should I pick up the kit?

        Posting some pic as promised.

Bore kit for Rs.3.5k!!! That means he is giving it at old rate Pick it up if its OE. Fresh lot of bore kits won't come from Yamaha. Request your friend to try Mangalore also for other parts.

Hunt for parts in small towns and for the ones not available order them with a dealer in a big city. Logic is as told by one of the Yam dealer I know, bigger cities will have greater 'quota' allocated to them. For example, if Pacer in Bangalore orders for 20 crankshaft assembly then maybe 10 will be delivered. But dealers in small towns would order say 2-3units and they have to wait longer to get their order fulfilled. Keep all this in mind while choosing a dealer and paying an advance.

Friends, I want to replace the rims on my RX100.
Can you tell me, whether I should go for the rims that are available in the market for this bike (wouldn't be sure of the quality). Or is there any other bike in the market whose rims I can put?
                    RX100 has 2.50" X 18" front tyre, 2.75" X 18" rear tyre.

All RX csme with 18 inch wheel. You can try with Yamaha dealers to make sure good one are for the tough job. With regards to to tyres, Front is 2.50 and back is 2.75 is stock set up. However, I have changed the back to 3.00 for better road grip.

If you don't find rims with Yamaha dealers, go to Hero Honda and ask for Splendour rims. They are equally good.
