  • Sure mate, I will keep that in mind, I cannot do it alone, "itna chul nahin hai". I am only aprehensive about the weather, might get too cold, right? And till when can one do a road trip of the entire circuit
Uptill Mid October the weather would be pleasant. Very rare chance of rain but may get snow as I did at Khardungla and Changla. But surely the ride would be lot more comfortable. JUST DO IT.

But, if you go through my travelogue, you would be too surprised to see the F1 type Roads in September-October !!!!

Sad to hear that bro, but your travelogue is yet to be completed, why are you giving away the climax
And I guess the true sense of a human comes out when faced with tough situations...

Yes Bro, somewhere around 1,800 kms in 7 days.

      • Ninja goes/ planning to go to Leh!

All set guys, god willing Ninja will go to Leh next month.

My hand post fracture is coping up well and I have been on a short bike ride of 8- 9 Kms.
Me and 2 friends (non xbhpians) (1 friend has dropped out) + Anshul (xbhpian from Jammu) + 1 more xbhpian (I guess his name is also Anshul) who will be reaching Srinagar directly and has already shipped his ride, are planning to go on this dream ride from 1st Sept to 15th Sept. This has been a dream ever since I started following Xbhp (2010) and reading about fellow rider's experiences and more importantly when I purchased my first bike in Apr 2010. Anyone who wishes to join us for the same can write back, as I always believe the more the merrier.
        WISH US LUCK!

More to come once the ride gets completed, till then...

          • Trip completed albeit with some twists, being plain lazy to start just another leh log and more so the thought of sorting so many pictures is putting me off, still one day I will tell you the story (Ninja goes to Leh 2012),

Even my boss's hovering around couldn't stop me from reading. It's 4:30 now and Hell yes! My day was totally productive! You really took me there with those words and pictures of yours. Keep it up!

                    Its 2:30 a.m.

The idea was to meet at 3:30 a.m., so I make haste. Mr. X wanted me to wake him at 3:15 a.m.3:00 a.m.

                    4:00 a.m.4:30 a.m.

No harm done, we continued our ride, well behind schedule but hey! Who cares? The ride till zhilmil dhaba was un eventful, and we made good time reaching there by 6:30 a.m. No rains till now.

It was a 30- 35 minutes break and soon we crossed Ambala bypass and was on the Zirakpur- Chandigarh route. With rain gods threatening we increased our speed but on the turning towards Shimla, it was raining cats and dogs. We were forced to stop under a flyover and quickly changed into rain gear. As we approached the hills the intensity of the rains went down but the occasional rain would continue till Narkanda.

Our ride till Shimla was awesome as before, wide roads, great tarmac (though wet and threatening), and beautiful scenery. I tanked up at Solan, as this was one of the last pumps where I can get Speed (91 octane petrol). Our lunchtime was somewhere between Solan and Shimla and soon we reached Shimla. Manoeuvring through the Shimla traffic was quite hard and the rain gods were not making it easy for us either. Slowly but steadily we continued and crossed all the mayhem. The road inclination and tarmac quality deteriorate significantly after crossing Shimla and we could never guess what lied ahead as now on hindsight this was much better than having no road at all. At kufri the intensity on the rain was too much for us to ride ahead and as we were quite wet and cold to continue we took shelter in a bus stop.

                    Delhi

6:00 p.m. Soon we located a decent hotel with somewhat safe parking space for the bikes.

Sorry guys, there are no pics on day 1.

Thanks Saquib, it does feel good if you can inspire someone to take the plunge and go and visit these far flung areas.
