@Pranay, Mithun, gd76: Thanks for your compliments!
@Steve: Thanks for sharing the pics. Guess I should have joined you for the morning fog ride.

From Palamner to Bangalore
From Horseley Hills to Palamner was covered great by Kiran, aka Kirosh.
Now for the Bangalore Bunch, consisting of Prajwal, Arun, Sudeep (xeno), Veda (DarthVeda) and me, from Palamner to Bangalore, here goes the trip log.
6:00 pm
First of all, I got the chance to lead the group for the first time, so I was kind of unsure about the pace I should maintain. I guessed it should have been comfortable for everyone, so I decided to maintain 55-65 kmph and occasional 70 kmph during the straight roads. The roads from Palamner towards Bangalore starts off amazingly. Butter smooth. Immediately as I started leading I noticed that the traffic was a bit chaotic, no wait, make that psychotic. For a stretch of around 10 kms, or maybe a bit more, the roads were filled with slow moving trucks we had to overtake consecutively, hi-beamers from the other side, plus Sumos/Lorries/Scorpios that were overtaking us at twice the speed we were going. Quite a mix, ain't it? It was difficult to maintain the formation during this stretch and there was a couple of times when me and Veda had to stop for the group behind us as they were out of sight for quite a while. Thankfully, visibility ahead wasn't much of a problem because of the projector in the bike. What a great job it did lighting up the road!!
We were soaking wet before Palamner, and there was some respite from rain. Prajwal had decided to air-dry his gloves by hanging them on the Uni's mirrors
.! Hardly any time after the traffic cleared up, it started raining. Damn!!
The roads started clearing, so better speeds were maintained now. The discipline followed by this particular group was outstanding. Night highway riding can be really dangerous and confusing, especially as a group. Safe distance was maintained between all of us. There wasn't even a single instance of a close call or any such untoward incidents.
Night riding + rain + potholes usually means going over some pot holes HARD!! I tried my best to point to any hazard that I found dangerous to the group, but after some time I realized I was pointing so much at so many places, I was doing the disco
. And DarthVeda, whose blue P150 was plastered on my RVMs at all times, decided to politely ignore the hazard signals anyways by actually going straight towards the potholes where I pointed
.
There was one incident worth telling, that occurred when we were going towards Bangalore. A crazy truck driver started blasting his horn like there was an emergency. At that point we all slowed down, but he actually "horned" Veda out of the road towards the muddy section. Now comes the hilarious part. Veda got so pissed off!!!!!!!!!! He started flashing, accelerating like mad. I was like, oh $hit, hope he doesn't do anything crazy. He zoomed beside the truck and started blasting him, along with some hand signals, of course
. All was well, though, no one was harmed.
Our next stop was for dinner. Still 60-70 kms to Bangalore, damn!! We all started joking about how carrying started coils should be made compulsory
from the next G2G. Two bikes kaput because of coil in 1 day.
After refreshing ourselves with the much needed food, we headed off towards Bangalore.
Now the Roads were getting bumpier and narrower, traffic was getting denser and crazier again. At some sections, it was so bad, I had to slow down to around 30 kmph. Well, we survived and after taking a much needed "bum-break", we were at the Cable Bridge at the Old Madras Road. Bidding adieu, the group headed their respective ways, making sure everyone SMSes after they reached home.Last edited by pranay; 12-02-2008, 07:20 PM.DoN\'t LivE tO DiE, dIe tO LiVe

HH looks magical with a bit of rain and glitter here and there.
We need another inter-state G2G for the ones who missed it!
