    Refreshing!!
Thanks for taking us for a ride into the beautiful Eastern Ghats. Places less explored always give a high. The greenery is amazing too! Keep it coming!

        Day Four:

        Route Plan:

        Tuni – Kathipudi – Jaggampeta – Rampachodavaram – Maredumilli – Chinturu – Bhadhrachalam – Yellandu – Mahabubabad – Thorrur – Tirumalagiri – Jangoan – Hyderabad = 625 kms approximately.

The fourth day was the most hectic and strenuous ride of the trip. At the same time, it was spectacularly awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed the ride. We rode on four-lane NH5, single lane rural roads, excellent curvy roads, narrow straight roads, broken roads, thick forest roads, wet roads, and all kinds of terrain.

We had excellent breakfast at a nice udupi hotel in Tuni. Wada with curd (Perugu Gare in telugu) was simply awesome and ate two plates in just few minutes. The wada was just melting in the mouth. We filled the petrol tanks to the brim and started at 9 a.m. We took the NH5; it was cloudy with heavy crosswinds. I have never met with such heavy crosswinds so far. My Dazzler was able to go only 80 kmph with full throttle. MG and KP went ahead of me. By the time I reached Kathipudi, MG and KP were waiting for me. At this place, MG and we had to depart. MG would take left turn and go down towards Kakinada. We wished ourselves and departed.

Now, KP and me had a little chat before proceeding with the plan of reaching Hyderabad via Vijayawada. It was already 10 a.m. and we need to cover lots of kilometres. The selected route would be very boring and we thought why not go via Maredumilli. The route is a thick forest and we don’t have any idea how good the road through the forest, and furthermore we don’t have much time to cover 600+ kms on unknown route. We can’t stop at Bhadhrachalam for the night, because KP had office the next day. We finally decided to go via Maredumilli as we thought we would not get to ride again to these places. We took the risk and checked the route to go from there. After Jaggampeta, we need to take right from there and reach Rampachodavaram via small villages.

We reached Jaggampeta soon and took right turn from there. The roads were single lane but decent enough for good speeds. We crossed a huge dry canal and found it to be the left canal of Polavaram.

A pic of the road via villages there.

Soon we entered the Rajamundry—Bhadhrachalam road and were quite surprised to see a nice two-lane road.

We are going to climb the Easter Ghats again soon. The Eastern Ghats end here touching River Godavari. The famous tourist place, Papikondalu is very near to this place, and is accessible from other side of the River Godavari. Sadly, the Paplikondalu is going to disappear soon due to Polavaram Dam.

After Rampachodavaram we started climbing the ghats again with thick forests on either side. We feared about heavy rains, but luckily it drizzled already and the roads were wet and the climate is super cool. And surprisingly and unexpectedly, the roads were two-lane and in amazing condition.

        Some big mushroom..

Nice roads with thick forest around…

We soon reached Maredumilli and I was very happy for that.

        And, the chicken finally arrived…

(I feel like eating again now after seeing this pic )

And this is the restaurant we had our lunch.

It was 2 p.m., by the time we finished lunch and started again. The road was a single lane from there and the forest became more thicker with less light. We encountered snakes crossing the roads freely. We stopped at few places enjoying the beauty and clicking pics.

Found this place called Nandanavanam, and it was very spooky inside. We figured not to venture into it.

Protected place for herbal medicines, named Vali Sugreeva.

Seems there is a tree linked to each moon sign and growing them would result in good health and prosperity.

While clicking the following picture, a snake crossed the road very fast a little far away.

The forest is so thick, it became very dark.

Crossed some natural streams in the forest.

Soon, the roads became two-lane again and is in excellent condition. We felt very happy for the unexpected nice curves and started enjoying the ride.

While clicking the above pictures, an Indica came and asked us the way to Donkarai. We were shocked as he came 40 kms in the wrong route. :O He was supposed to take the route we did on the second day. He said we were only ones he encountered in the last 40 kms. :O He turned back from there with obvious disappointment.

KP went ahead enjoying the curves and stopped inbetween to click some pictures. The curves were awesome and we enjoyed the maximum, and it was all the we didn’t expect at all.

As we started to climb down, the road became single lane and its in very bad condition.

We were able to do less speeds only due to uneven broken roads. Soon we reached the junction and joined back the second day route.

The roads were narrow and smooth again, we started doing good speeds. Being the road narrow, it was difficult for us to cross any occasional lorry or bus. As it was evening, returning buffaloes and sheep slowed us down a bit.

We stopped at one place where there is a stream, and took some break to have some snacks and water.

        These buffaloes were the speed-brakers.

Finally reached Bhadhrachalam by evening 5:45 p.m. Took some snaps on the the bridge and left immediately.

We stopped after the bridge and discussed about which route to take from there. The black clouds at the end of the road were scaring us, as it would be difficult to ride in the night with rain. We thought of covering distance as fast as possible by dark. It started drizzling and started to speed a little to cover more distance in the little daylight left for the day. The traffic was very dense being evening and an NH. Finally reached Yellandu a little after 7 p.m. Decided to take the same route the we came. Luckily the rain disappeared and traffic was less at the night. Being on saddle for continuous fourth day, our bums start to pain a lot and we were constantly riding at 60 kmph, changing our ride positions frequently. The oncoming traffic was very scant and it saved us from oncoming lights.

Took few brakes and stretched our bodies whenever possible. Had some tea to avoid dozing on the bike. At one point, I took out the towel and put on the saddle for some cushioning. As we were reaching Tirumalagiri, we feared the police there might stop us again, being midnight. Luckily we were not stopped and reached Jangaon by 12 midnight. KP was very tired and feeling sleepy and wanted to take some rest there. We had around 110 kms more to cover.

After half-an-hour, a petrol jeep stopped by and the police asked us rudely why we were staying there. We explained we were coming from Bhadhrachalam, and he again asked what was our work at Bhadhrachalam and why we were riding on bikes. He put lots of questions rudely and finally asked us to show the documents. We showed our documents and he left from there. We understood by the smell, and the way he was talking, that policeman was drunk.

We started to push ourselves at 90 kmph and finally reached Hyderabad at around 1:45 a.m. I reached my home a little after 2 a.m. and immediately retired to bed.

The last day was one of the most memorable ride for us as we have covered and experienced many terrains and it tested our metal strength and enduration.

This trip was one of the best rides of me, and thanks to MG and KP for great companionship. Especially, KP Uncle; he was always a great companion for my rides and one of the best friends of mine. It was always a great pleasure to ride along with him.

This ends the trip. And thanks to all for patiently watching so many pictures; I know, it was a burden on your internet.

I am glad you liked the trip and pictures Magesh. Eventhough its one year since I completed the trip, its still fresh in my mind. I remember every place and incident as the ride was unforgettable. The ghats are excellent at some places and normal at some places.

Thanks Samuel. Venturing alone into those forests is very dangerous. I guess, at Maredumilli, there are some organizations/guides who would take you into the forests with camping. We just rode through the forest to enjoy.
