  • Yet another one day trip. This time its HGB, Karnataka.

Ever since I moved to Bangalore, I wanted to see Bandipur reserve, for its vast expanse of flora and fauna. No, this T-log isn't about Bandipur, but its outskirts.
Shall do Bandipur with the whole gang with at least 2 full days in hand.

Sorry for not writing in the usual form with teasers et al, that's not my cup of tea. Here's the full T Log at once!

Today, we (myself and Sid - plasmabhai) visited the hill top of Himavad Gopalswamy Betta about 500 kms to and fro from Bangy. There's a temple on top that we wanted to see. But, it were the surroundings that took our breath away.
Won't type much, rather let the pics say the thing. Also, the sweet body ache isn't letting me type much, but the zeal within me to share my experience ASAP wouldn't just subside.

We left quite early in the morning at 3:40 AM. Target - reach HGB by 8:30 AM, when the gates open for public.

During our first break around 5:00 AM.

Yes, that belongs to Sid, a proud owner of Dazzler 170.

    This one's mine!

    Sunrise.

Road to HGB. Have to mention, this is the good portion of the track. You encounter 30 kms of off road during ascend and descend.

    The riders.

    The rides.

Some fancy camera work in progress.

    Macro.

Full 120X zoom on my super zoom cam.

    Soothing nature.

Now, pics from the hill top.

    Marvels from Honda.

    Entrance to the temple.

    Few landscape shots.

    Shadows of the clouds.

    A wide angle panorama.

    The temple.

    Pose time.

    Chariot wheels.

This is how the entire stretch/road was. Glad that PSD lived through all of this.

Sadly, one is allowed on the hill for 90 minutes max. While coming down.

    Sid fiddling with his cam.

    Yeah, this is my identity.

Just like marriages being incomplete without a fight, how can a trip be complete without incidents?

The RVM gives away during off roading. HMC needs to address this classic ZMR design flaw.

Luckily, we managed to find the lost nut (I saw it falling and Sid helped me find it. Actually he found it) and fixed it with the bike's key. I didn't have the correct allen key size with me.
Later, it was fixed properly at a mechanic.

Now, a few birds in the lake.

    Windows XP wallpaper ishtyle.

After having fun behind the camera, we'd to ride back home. Took plenty of breaks both ways.

Last stoppage before heading home. Cafe Coffee Day.

My yum yum yummy chicken 65.

    Topped with ice tea.

    Hope you all like it.

Nice & simple trip with some beautiful pictures. Sometimes the more enjoyable trips are the ones with least planning.

Will ride to this place again, with a larger group of 4-5 riders. 2 riders is just too small a group...

Thanks However in reality the clouds were so beautiful and mesmerising that our pictures just could not capture their beauty...

The road that leads to the top is in a pretty bad shape, the ride is bone jarring and the bike rattles like crazy, there were stretches where I actually got down from the road and was riding on the gravel since that was a much smoother ride. And then you reach the top and my god the view totally blows you away. Its like a reward for braving the conditions... The vast expanse of the Bandipur Forest with clouds floating above and their shadows rolling on the tree tops, the place is breathtaking!

This place will be even more beautiful just after monsoons, that's the time I hope to pull another trip here!

Yes, I could imagine how the place would be in monsoons. I rode in pathetic roads on my Dazzler, but it never rattled. The rear was solid unlike any other bike in India. The panels at the rear are very tight and small. Please check if there are any screws missing. The rattle sound sometimes may be due to loosely packed toolkit under the seat. I had to pack the toolkit tight and wrap in cloth and fit in the compartment so that it won't rattle.

In rains, you won't need to ride down the hill top, the loose gravel shall do its job to send you right the way down hill, lol!

Jokes apart, I just wish I/we could replicate what the eyes saw.

Good trip there, HGB used to be super fun if you can catch the sunrise from there.

Did you trek around? There is a spot there where you get cell phone signal from TN/KA/KL
