Well, it all started off in the month of July when I checked the company Holiday list.. Was quite happy on seeing the 4 days holiday up in October.. So I decided to make a plan with my friends in office aka biker pals..

We were not sure if the plan would be successful.. there were so many reasons of which Money was the most important criterion.. I spent so much money for my marriage shopping that I was in debt because of the Credit Card which I swiped.. never the less, we decided we will somehow arrange the money and make a plan.

I got my bike serviced on the 13th of September 2014.. Got the clutch plates changed and the tappet door O ring changed spending almost 2300/-

We planned to hit Aut and then go to Great Himalayan National Park.. We thought we can do some trekking and pitch tent to spend 2 nights over there and hit back home..

on the 19th of September 2014, my friend resigned and the plan was going for a toss due to some pressure in office.. we were told that we will have to go for an interview with the client on the 4th of October 2014..


Somehow we managed to convince the Manager to push the interview to the week after the holidays and the planning started again..

on the 20th September 2014, my friend called me and said his bike is screwed.. heavy white smoke coming from the silencer of his RTR 180.. We took it to the Service center thinking we will just have to change the Cylinder kit and piston as we didn't have money we wished they won't charge too much.. Hoping for the same, we requested the Service manager to open the engine and asked for the estimation. we were with the mechanic when he was opening the engine and to our bad luck everything was messed up.. The Crank Shaft had a huge play.. the bearings of the Cam Shaft was nearly dead.. the piston had too much of carbon deposits and the walls of the cylinder was scratched and they gave us an estimate of a freaking 14,000/-

I checked my bank account and I had some 6,000/- my friend who resigned didn't have any money so he contributed 1,000/- and we needed another 7,000/- I had a SBI Debit card my dad gave me 5 years back for filling up fuel when i was searching for job here in Delhi.. i had some money in that account.. I immediately checked and found it had some 8,000/- in it.. so I said go ahead with fixing the bike.. we asked them to do it ASAP as we didn't have much time to complete the running in..

we got a call from the Service Center guys on the 22nd of September that they are still getting the job done and it will be ready by tomorrow. we waited for the next day and when we called, they are closed... we got frustrated to the core.. We had to wait for the 24th to get the bike from their hands.. nevertheless, we were happy that we were able to get the bike fixed for the ride.. we paid 12280 in total after discounts on spare parts and labor..

the next day, I just wanted to check the engine oil level and found that it was below the maximum level.. I remember it was above normal level when I got it serviced..

I immediately posted query here in ZMR ownership thread on the same as there was no smoke visible but I could smell the oil from the exhaust..

Meanwhile I took the bike to the Service Center to find out what the problem could be as I didn't want this plan to get spoiled.. They came to check the bike and they revved the engine a little and then red lined with WOT for few seconds and the white smoke was visible.. They threw a grenade at my face saying the piston and cylinder needs to be replaced.. and it will cost me a minimum of 7,000/-

I immediately called up [MENTION=28527]sibun[/MENTION] and [MENTION=32286]psr[/MENTION] sir to find out what the issue could be.. they asked me to check few things and get back to them. I told them what the service center guys said and they suggested I could ride for another 4000 to 6000 kms if I use 20W40 grade oil..

I was heart broken thinking how this could have happened. many things running in my mind, could it have been because of the frequent oil changes I did.. as in different brands and grades of oil.. could it have been because of the performance Air filter which I used for some 5000 kms when the engine was still new..

meanwhile, I found Sukhi and Hoodibaba sir planning a ride to Chanshal Pass and I decided to find the route for the same.. Told my friend [MENTION=59610]manojmsoni[/MENTION] to make the plan and find the proper routes.. that is when our plan was confirmed that we are going to hit Chanshal Pass and pitch our tent there over the night..

I was riding the bike at very slow speeds for the next one week.. Got myself a Gulf 20W40 on the 27th of September 2014.. Got the oil change on the 28th Sept 2014 and the bike water washed on the 30th..

I packed up everything needed on the 30th of September night.. prepared a check list and checked it against the packing done.. The big day was coming up
