man, why did you have to quote a 2 pages post for your not needed half a line comment?

Please edit the quote & make it short.

            • what about K&N in the bike? do I have to switch to stock air filter? rains?? dust??
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

              • ^ by what Prabhu told me, its good to switch to stock filters while on the climb.
BIKER ...the thrill and sense of self-fulfilment is obtained from living a little dangerously!

K&N with stock jet will be good for higher altitudes as your bike will run lean. Though it will struggle a bit on the highways on plains. Also make sure you dont overheat it on the highway owing to it running too lean.
Best would be run a rich jet with K&N on the highway and once in manali switch back to stock jet.

                    cheers

I meant, go with stock air filter untill you cross Rohtung and then the next day change to K&N, so that you need not re tune the carb when you change the air filter. Changing the air filter will be easy than fiddling the carb jets.

I have tuned the carb with the same jet to allow more fuel.. changed the jet needle level to high so that the carb drinks more fuel.
My bike is not running lean now. So will it be fine?

yeah, air filter change should be an easy job.. but I cant keep K&N inside my filter box.. so i have removed it.. in that case I should carry the whole filter box with me.. should i? can i run the whole trip on K&N?

                        • if you know how to lower the needle then that would be enough, you can do the full trip in K&N.

I heard that the RTR Fi comes with a paper filter. If that is true, just switch to that paper filter (should be a direct fit) and since it gives more air flow compared to the stock foam filter you might be able to do the whole trip without much trouble.

Kauria has fitted a Honda Eterno's air filter to his RTR. You can check that thing too if the RTR Fi also comes with a foam filter.
