  • I completed my ride in the month of Feb '10 and received my certificate package(including a printed list of certified ride finishers which was not publicly visible on site by then) in the month of May '10.

When I had inquired with IBA personnel in May '10 asking them when will my name be added in the list on the website www.ironbutt.com , I was given the following answer.

    "Hi, Ketan!

Yes, you are an Iron Butt Association member.

We update the online ride finishers list on a time-available basis. You will notice that it was last updated on April 1st, so I would imagine you will be included in the next update. You are, however, listed in our member database (which is not publicly available).

    Welcome to the club!

    *** Agins

    Iron Butt Association"

Now it's October '10. One of the members on other forums pointed this out that my name is still not updated in the list on IBA website.

I talked to Michael Kneebone(IBA) yesterday asking him if the list hasn't been updated or is there any technical issue. Here's what he has to say..

    "Ketan,

I am sorry the update is taking so long, we are moving to an all-database solution and it is taking forever. Ira passed your note on to me and we will do a manual update very late next week.

    Mike"

Hope my name gets updated in the list very soon

Thanks to Mr. Kneebone and Miss. Agins for there quick replies and help.

Hey thanks John, but there seems to be some miscommunication. I have already got the certificates, pins and plate back. I have also posted the pics here. You can check'em a few pages back. What I am waiting for is my name to be added on Iron Butt Association's website
Thanks for wishing me all the best though

Thanks Vikram. I paid them $45 for certification. AFAIK, they don't charge anything for verification process. Amount paid is for the Printing/shipping charges of the certificates, pins, stickers and number plate backs.

                          • Wow! Reading about your saddlesore trip moved me. There are a lot of take aways for me - grit, passion and sense of achievement. But the riding in triple digit speed around Pune was not a great idea (this off course is with the benefit of hindsight). Nevertheless, Congrats - you deserve it.

Well a little company is always welcome Tushar. Even my saddle sore ride was supposed to be a group ride but other members had some other priorities and didn't want to sit back home and waste the best touring time of the year. Hence it turned out to be a solo ride.

I don't mind company this time but definitely not more than 2-3 riders. You yourself have been through the experience now and must be aware of the importance of co-ordination between riders when it's a race against time. Will definitely keep you posted though

Thanks a lot brother. Am the only son of my parents and none of my parents are that much adventure lovers. When last time I returned home from our bun burner attempt, my mom saw how exhausted I was and this time I was gonna go through same effort - alone. That's what had scared my mom a lot and was worried. She knew the danger and seriousness of this ride. May be that's why she couldn't hold her emotions when she saw me back home safely..
