Exactly before 3 months and 9 days ago, I was riding hard towards Pune by this time, 11.14 pm, for a ride of a lifetime for me. For me the next 24 hours were going to be one of the toughest and craziest 24 hours. All I needed to do was to keep riding on and on and on..racing with time and winning the battle by completing 1600+ kilometers in less than 24 hours. And to do this, I only had to maintain my concentration level and the focus on my aim. Glad that I did it successfully. But that was just half the battle won.

What was left was the certification. Certification means a lot!!! A LOT! Because it's collecting all the receipts/signatures/documents that makes the ride what it is.. A TOUGH RIDE!

And today, it gives me immense pleasure to inform all you guys, that IBA has certified my ride. Yesss.. I am a proud record holder of IBA SaddleSore 1600K.

Just a little time ago, received this email from the President of IBA, Mr. Michael Kneebone confirming the ride.

Here's what the email says,

Dear Ketan Nikharge:
You are receiving this e-mail because of your application for a ride
certification. This note is to let you know that your ride has been
approved and although your ride documents may take a few more weeks to
arrive, your membership has also been approved and entered into the
Iron Butt Association's member database.

Welcome to the Iron Butt Association!

If you wish, you may purchase Iron Butt Association member only items.
To do so, or to see our for our latest specials and offers, please visit
Iron Butt Association eStore. It goes without saying that your membership is for
your exclusive use. Please do not share your login information with anyone
else. We ask that you not share or resell Iron Butt items to non-Iron
Butt riders.

Please save this message for future reference to log into your IBA
eStore account.

When I first read this email, I was shocked. Shocked with excitement and eagerness. I immediately opened the IBA website to check my name in the list and to my surprise my name wasn't there.

I was like.. Ohh God now what is this..

I replied to the mail and asked them bout the confusion. My eyes were glued to the screen till I received the reply

Because I wasn't sure if it's really true or is there some kind of mistake. Here's what they have to say..

Hi, Ketan!

Yes, you are an Iron Butt Association member.

We update the online ride finishers list on a time-available basis. You will notice that it was last updated on April 1st, so I would imagine you will be included in the next update. You are, however, listed in our member database (which is not publicly available).

Yayyyy.. And it confirmed that yesss.. My ride has been approved and all my hard work has not been wasted. Wow..! I am sooooo Happy!

I asked them, when should I expect my certificate, IBA patches for tees, IBA pins and plate backs, and they said you'll get your stuff soon.

So Thanks to ALL you guys at xBhp who directly/indirectly helped me completing the ride successfully. I owe this ride to Mandar for giving me his riding gloves at the last minute. To Satyen for the help in payment options after the ride and to Bibek, DK and Ajinkya for being the witnesses. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Sunny for creating something as awesome as xBhp because w/o xbhp I wouldn't even have learned about IBA let aside completing SaddleSore!

I have always said and shall maintain it all my life.
Successfully completing a saddle sore can be equalled to climbing up the Himalayas. And doing it solo means not taking any Sherpas with you.

Its just crazy ! And now you get a certificate for that !
A thing to be cherished for life I guess !
