  • Jammu used to be the rail head. Currently it is at Udhampur. And they are extending it further.

Brilliant idea about the deo, though I did not think it would be effective!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Didn't knew about Udhampur. Yup, deo works. Stronger the better....

The FZ is a competent bike and you can easily take it to Leh. I did not want to carry out some jugaad before trying official changes. That is the only reason why my bike did not climb Chang La. Had I done that jugaad earlier, it would have easily climbed up. It is really a nice bike for Leh or other rides.

Ya its quiet comfortable for short rides upto 500 km (personal experience) but no idea how it is beyond that.. Anyways your experience on FZ will help for sure..

PS: In your leisure time, please let me kno what were the basic bike repair on FZ that u learnt from Yamaha Pune.. Just give me a broad hint & I will try to locate someone in mumbai to teach me those coz I really wanna learn it in case of emergencies although my FZ has never given me a problem since i bought it *Touchwood* But still, eager to carry out basic stuff myself

              1. Air filter cleaning
              2. Carburetor setting
              3. Tubeless tyre puncture repairing
              4. Clutch cable change
              and.... that's all.

OK.. all that sounds doable with some practice & learning.

BTW, I did not buy puncture repair kit. Someone else from our intended group was carrying it. (But we never hooked up so no puncture kit with us; just the footpump)

I tried puncture repairs in Yamaha service station. They had a scrap tyre and I tried repairs on it.

It would require someone with the strength and build of Old Fox to repair a tubeless puncture at 5000mts!

Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.
