By the way, while reading this installment, every time I come across the word, one who must not be named, reminded me of Lord Voldemort Even he's the one who's referred as "You-Know-Who" or "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."
What do you mean that the phrase - one who must not be named reminded you of LV. He was the one riding with us. Whom did you think I was referring to?

@ rachit - Given sufficient feedback, I intend to rewrite all the earlier pages modifying them to purely humor mode so no one is offended. (earlier also the intention to offend was not there but some took it as a personal insult which I intend to repair)

Good idea! Brilliant log. Started reading it some time back.

And despite all the trouble of getting the bikes up from North Pullu rear skidding like a pendulum, hyperventilating and all, when you reach up there, you still make a beeline for the souvenirs shop!

Compared to your ride in beginning and mid-June mine sounds like a ride on the beach!

Actually wanted to buy at least something other than pen stand but seems that you-know-who hogged all the goodies and left the shelf empty again.

                      1. What do you mean never below the belt? I was aiming for all the below the belt shots and now you are saying that I didn't score even once?

                      2. Did not shoot photos of maratha regiment because at the first check post itself, they shooed away you-know-who. Shot some photos enroute and posted some of them.

                      3. Welcome for the permits.

                          • Today, we had decided to take things easy and just roam around Srinagar. In the morning, me & Rudra got up around 8.30, got ready and went out in the market. We wanted to taste authentic kashmiri food so enquired around and went to lal chowk. Incidentally, for anything you want to purchase, you are directed to Lal chowk. We found that due to death of a young person the day before in police firing, all parties had called for Bandh. All the shops were closed but road traffic was normal. I had filled up fuel day before but Rudra got his bull fueled.

Judging the overall mood, me and Rudra decided to leave Srinagar behind and go to Katra for Vaishnodevi darshan. We got back to the hotel, told this to Karizmatic Rider

Aman had just washed his hair since it was planned as a day at leisure. However, we all decided to move out as early as possible and then decide whether we want to visit Katra or not. The idea was to go at least till Udhampur. From Udhampur, there are multiple roads leading to Jammu and even if one road closes down, we can use another. Both Aman and Karizmatic Rider were low on fuel and wanted to fill up. I suggested that we move at least 30 km away from Srinagar and then fill up. We moved out around 11.30 am.

This is called as concentration while riding. No time to look for any distractions. However, Karizmatic Rider surprisingly saw us and stopped to inform us that they had got fuel some time back so we all moved towards Jawahar tunnel.

The road till Jawahar Tunnel was in pathetic condition when we came but while returning, we thought the road was quite good. Leh road effect????

No traffic jam till Jawahar tunnel. After passing the tunnel, however, it was completely different story. The road was choked with all the traffic going towards Jammu stopped and nothing coming from opposite direction. We kept finding space to move ahead. It had rained, the road was slippery and was drizzling. I was scared of riding fast on this wet, winding road full of traffic. However, Rudra was moving ahead confidently so followed him. This stopped traffic situation continued for next 30-40 minutes. After that, we let rip fearing that all the stuck cars behind us will also start doing the same once they get clear.

However, this time, we were prepared and caught him while he was trying to run away from us.

Karizmatic Rider also turned up and we all had some snacks and tea/coffee. Here enquired about the shortest and best way to Katra. Aman thought that he will rest for some time with us in Katra and leave late night/early morning for Delhi to avoid traffic and heat.

                            .

Even when we stopped at a junction to enquire about the correct road, it was difficult to stand straight because of cross winds.

Finally we reached Katra and as usual hunted for a hotel. Aman found a hotel called Mayur. Locked private parking and Rs.1000 for a A/c. family room. Good thing was the room was on ground floor so no climbing stairs. Bad thing was check out time was 12 noon. Checked with hotel counter to know that the entry pass window for Vaishnodevi temple closed just half an hour back. Now no option but to wait till next day morning to get the entry pass.

. The restaurant captain came to politely enquire about food.... told him that Veg. Kolhapuri was absolutely pathetic and waste of good ingredients. The look on his face was a kodak movement.

All went to sleep after wishing Aman best of luck for journey ahead.

                            .
