          weather in Manali and Leh

          @Old Fox.

          SBK on the highest motorable pass.. thats great!!

          friends, and an off-topic question but this is the most active thread on Leh at this point.

          can anybody tell me what is the weather like now in Manali-Leh region. we have planned to reach Manali on 13th July. this is not a drive or a ride. just a tour. but i heard that Manali is been receiving heavy rain falls for last few days and there have been land slides leading people to get stuck on the way to Leh.

          but i would prefer to cover this distance by road but if no option left i would have to take a flight. please can anybody help me with the information.

            There you go. It's gotta be you for such adventures. Congratulations on the achievement sir

            BTW, while returning from Leh on 16th June 2010 we saw a group of Super Bikes (10 of them from Malaysia) riding to Leh from Jammu. We saw them between Ramban and Jawahar Tunnel. Obviously because the Manali-Leh route was closed.

            There were at least 4 or 5 BMW R1200GS and a few more BMW's. One was a Ninja R series bike but failed to identify whether it is a ZX6R or a ZX10R.

              What an Achievement!!..
              OF Sir it takes impecable skill to ride such motorcycles on such arid terrain...
              Aptly said the Beemer is built for such stuff, not the Bandit...
              Guess you should try your hand at Motocross Championships

              Kudos to the entire team as well as the other Sandeep(R1200 GS) mentioned by Haroon...

                    @Old Fox & Team...

                    A fabulous achievement in the harshest of conditions, and all the more commendable as it was on a bike which was in no way tried and tested in such a scenario.

                    It sure takes a whole lot of skill, and probably strength as well, to be able to tame such a heavy beast. But to begin with, it takes a lot of bravery to be doing this, and that too at a time when the weather conditions haven't been entirely favourable in that part of the country. Fearless lot, I must say.

                    Congratulations to you all.

                    Am really keen on knowing whether the huge torque produced by the Bandit at low RPM's was beneficial in such conditions, or was it a hindrance? And how would you rate the ergonomics of the Bandit on such a gruelling tour?

                    .....Simba
