Day 15 - Kathmandu -Hetauda - Bharatpur - Butwal
A part from being capital of Nepal,Kathmandu is famous for the the Pashupati Nath temple. Now this is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu.Quite an popular pilgrim site for Hindus. The name Pashupati Nath means "Lord of the Animals".The temple is situated at the Banks of Bagmati river.
Only Hindus are allowed to enter inside the temple. No camera, phones and electronic quipments are allowed inside the temple. So i had to keep them in locker. This is the last point till which we can take cameras.

Being such a popular site,i was expecting it to be crowded with long queue for Darshan. But it hardly took 40 mins to do a complete run of temple and Shiv Darshan.
Chatri of the temple from outside.

Lady Saints, just outside the Pashupati Nath temple.

Kathmandu Palace,It was closed for visitors on that day.

The other day i went to cafe to check emails and post updates to friends.I had received the offer letter from IBM and they wanted me to join As soon as possible.Though i had taken Bansar of 10 days but i had to end my Nepal sojourn because of their deadline. So i decided to head back to India. But i did not wanted to go out from the same border gate.So i thought lets go out from Mahendra Nagar side.

While returning to Bharatpur-Butawal,I took the different route this time, instead of going back from the Pokhara route..I decided to take the Kathmandu-Naubise-Hetauda-Bharatpur route.Rain gods were continuously scaring me with those dark clouds, but i just kept on moving, moving and moving.

A random stop at a Holy place between Hetauda to Bharatpur. The place is known as Devghat Dham.

The Kathamandu to Butawal travel was a quick run and i made it to Butwal by Sunset.
Beautiful roads

And the lovely Sunset

Day 16 - Butawal - MahendraNagar - Nainital
Butawal to Nainital, again it was just a road run admiring the beauties and peoples along the highway.Butawal to Mahendranagar highway is called Mahendra Nagar highway for obvious reasons.
There is nothing to write as such for today.Hence sharing the photos.
Life as usual - Mahendranagar Highway

Beautiful scenery around the Highway.

A small pond with clouds admiring themselves in the clear water

And few kids playing around the Pond - The age of being happy with no reasons. The age of being in thinking mode without any purpose :P

I stopped for lunch and had some simple daal rice at this place. And saw this shy girl

Some over edited stuff

100-150 Kms before the Indo_nepal border i was stopped at a check post for the document check and later on thorough check of saddle bags and tank bag.It was a routine check shouted the officer and i was set free to zoom ahead.
I also noticed plenty of bridges made by India on the Mahendra Nagar highway.Shows how much close relation these two countries had and will continue to have.
While exiting from MahendraNagar border i did not came out from the usual border route.I instead chose another interesting route. There is a river named Mahakali which flows at the border and there is a hanging bridge on it.Its called second longest suspension bridge in Asia

and another look

After reaching India, the first thing i did is to call the consultant for confirmation of accepting the offer letter from IBM and discuss about joining date. They gave me 15 days ultimatum
.
After that called home and gave a status update that my phone got broken and was not working from last 4-6 days. :P .Its hard to lie in front of parents, but i had no other option. To keep my passion alive i have to tell a lie :P
With little bit of planning and referring to Eicher maps,i decided my next destination to be Nainital. And i made it to Nainital by night.Being an Touristy place..room rents were on the higher side and had to do a lot of search and bargain to get an decently priced room.
Enroute Nainital.

Am i there Yet,Yes finally

Cheers

Day 17 - Nainital - Ramnagar - Jamandhar - Lansdowne
Morning was not much pleasant,It was raining like crazy along with strong winds. It was so cold outside,I packed up my stuff and started for the journey ahead. The other night i enquired with the locals if there is any view point near by where i can get a better/aerial view of the Nanital. It would have been a splendid site, but rain spoiled everything.

I didn't even get a good shot of the Naini lake.I opened the cap of the camera to take a shot and next thing i saw is the lens was completely covered with water. But it was worth taking that much risk.

I wasn't aware about the route,I was completely relying on the Local GPS and the eicher map i was carrying.I reached Ramnagar, from there people told me to carry on towards Jamandhar.Spotted one of the entry gate of Corbett National park.Coudnt stop myself to capture a self portrait

Road condition was okayish till Ramnagar. As i was closing towards Lansdowne, the road condition was getting worse and the vistas/sceneries around were getting much and much better. But then the rear tyre got punctured, and there was no puncture shop/air filling station around.Until i reach Lansdowne.

The road condition went from worse to horrible.I kept on moving with the punctured tyre, all i can see on my left and on the right is the unending mountains.I had very tough time riding on that type of terrain with the puncture tyre.

A random water crossing on the way

And the beautiful scenery around

Landslide,A common site in Himachal

I made it to Lansdowne by midnight and got a very good room for just 500 bucks.I expected this place to be bit costly, specially in this time of the night
.
Had a very tiring second half so,immediately crashed on the bed.Without even bothering about the Dinner

Day 18 - Lansdowne - Haridwar - Dehradun
After the rainful, wet, punctourous, tiring and slushy yesterday.I woke up in the morning with new hope and clear weather
.First thing first, went to check out the shop where tubeless puncture can be repaired.Found one,but it was supposed to open by 10 AM.Damn it,I am stuck atleast till 10 AM,and then few peoples also came with the punctured bikes and now there was a Q
.Good i made it to the place bit early,I was first on the queue.
Mechanic came bit late as usual, got the puncture repaired..went back to hotel..packed my luggage and started rolling towards Haridwar.
Weather was quite awesome today.Got to see some very beautiful landscapes. While riding in Uttarakhand.

the only thing i was doing while riding was...first climbing the mountain then descending from the mountain..move to next mountain..again climb and descend. So in a complete if i look back,i realize that i have crossed just 4-5 mountains :P and have done 200+ kms in the ODO.

Another land slide enroute

I reached Haridwar in the afternoon time.It was time for a Holy Dip.As they say about the Kawar's and Haridwar. The place was full with devotees, carrying Kawar's to the Haridwar temple.

Har Har Gange

I didn't had guts to carry the Kawar on my own..so i took i dip in the Holy Ganges and moved forward towards Dehradun.

And fellow duck

Road condition was pretty good as compared to the roads i travelled in uttarakhanad.Plain lands, straight road...and no traffic.Thats the way i like it.
I reached Dehradun by evening and planned to stay for the rest of the day as i was felling very tired.
Cheers

Day 20 - Shimla - Narkanda - Sarahan - Reckong Peo - Puh
Had lots of things to do today,Get the bike serviced for the journey ahead..Get myself ready for the Salary Negotiation..and ofcourse get my self ready to get drenched as it was raining badly
I took my bike to a nearby mechanic shop to put tube on the rear tyre, also bought an extra tube for any unavoidable/unfortunate circumstances. Also got the engine oil changed. Received the call from HR around 10:30 AM in the morning and the negotiation lasted for 30 mins.Wasn't much happy with the offer
Packed my stuff and came back on the road,It was still raining then.
Just when i traveled for few 50 Kms,encountered a land slide before Rampur.Perfect start for the day..I say.

It took an hour to get the landslide clear,as the JCB's were not close by.The came after 30-40 mins and then took another 30 mins to clear the shit
But being a biker has its own advantage, got to cross the way as soon as the landslide was clear.I crossed the small towns like Wangtu,Jeori and finally stopped in Reckong Peo to pay my visit to the monastery.
Road condition till Reckong Peo was okayinsh, some muddy patches..some tarmac. But who cares when you are in a place like Himachal Pradesh..Himachal being Sanskrit word ..means "The Mountain State".So I wasnt expecting much on the road condition part.

Encountered some very beautiful scenic and mountain roads around Wangtu, where they have rock-cut road. And Baspa river flowing next to it.
Coudn't stop myself to strike a pose

Some photos from the Monastery in Reckong Peo.

Random shots

Where to stop next was not decided,I inquired in Reckong Peo about accommodation being available in the cities ahead.Everybody advised to stay at PUH.So Puh it was
Spotted a petrol bunk at Pangi.Tanked up and refueled the petrol canes i was carrying.

It started to became dark and Puh was not even near and to increase my trouble encountered some water crossing on my way, which i never got on my ride to Leh-Ladakh.

Few Kms before PUH.

I reached PUH and checked in a hotel.I preferred the Dorm for 100 buck instead of paying 250bucks for individual room.Dorm was very clean, nice and most importantly empty :P.
So i thought i would rather save the money on buying Rum rather than spending on accommodation.
Cheers

Bohot badhiyaaa !
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)
