A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

                            DAY 1 - 10-11 July
                            Mumbai - Udaipur - Chittaurgarh

It was a lazy saturday and i was just lazing around from the morning.
Its been a while when i left my previous Job.
From the very morning and i was cursing myself for doing nothing.
                            I was sitting idle..eating..drinking..smoking..shitting.
In all wasting my self, money and time in the flush.

So all these events all toghether formed an unplanned ride. Now the question was where to go

Packed my stuff and started rolling at 4 PM Saturday..Still undecided.I reached Western Express Highway where i had to decide which way and which places to go.If i go left i will be hitting NH8 and Rajasthan and if right i had to go thru the shitty traffic to reach the NH4 or NH17 for any
                            Southern Soujourn.

In this way the laziest person in the whole planet (ya,that would be me) ended up visitng Rajasthan,MP,UP,Nepal,Uttarakhand and Spiti.

The moment i left Mumbai,i got heavy rains till the morning or i can say till Gujarat Border.even the rain suit i purchased in Ladakh gave up and i was all wet for whole night.

some relief i got from the rain, somewhere near to Daman

Slowly-Slowly i moved ahead with plenty of tea and sutta breaks, i crossed Daman and then Surat.Just 50 kms ahead of surat my bike got punctured.Oh heck what a start i said.Luckily i carried the puncture kit.So the only thing i had to do is to find a Air filling station. And in NH8 one can find it very easily in every 5-10 Kms.

So repaired the Puncture and moved ahead.Crossed Vadodara,Ahemdabad and finally reached Udaipur.I have been to Udaipur or i would say i had bypassed-crossed Udaipur twice but never got an chance to explore it.

Now was the time to do it.

I simply asked the local junta that what are the tourist places in Udaipur ??.So the 2-3 common names of the places which i got was
                            1) City Palace
                            2) Pichola Lake
                            3) Saheliyon ki baadi
                            4) Maharana Pratap Memorial
                            5) Fateh Sagar Lake

So first i headed for City Palace. This palace was built by Maharana Uday singh.Few lines about these warriors which was written inside the palace

"Victory or Death in the battle has always been the religion of the Rajput's,from time immemorial,it is his character that he knows no fear"

                            Beautiful paintings

Maharana Pratap with his Horse Chetak

                            Maharana PRatap's armour

Very famous Pichola lake is adjacent to this elegant palace. There is palace in between this lake which is known as Jal Mahal,it's been converted to a heritgae hotel now.

The palace is fenced by the towers..consist numerous balconies, small domes and endless windows that give a sense of ecstasy.

When you see the palace from the rooftop and the glittering granite, marbles carved out, marvelous paintings on the walls an evelasting impression gets imprinted in your mind.

                            Mujraa room

Few more lines about those warriors
"Suryavanshi nyaas kaa yeh rashmirath chalata rahega
Peedhiyon ke raqt me iskaa suyash chalta rahega
Reeti raghukul ki jise shiv se virasat me mili ho
Aandhiyon me waha diya jalata raha jalata rahega."

Next was Saheliyon ki baadi. It was a very beautiful garden with plenty of fountains, Marbled elephants, lotus pool, sprinkling water and many more attractions provide truly a picturesque sight. This garden was a gift from the King to the Queen.Where Queen and her maids use to spent quality time .Hence the name Saheliyon ki Baadi 'Garden of Maids'

Later on i headed to Maharana pratap memorial. There is a nominal entry fees for that.Visit to this place reminded me some lines about Maharana pratap.

                            Read it in hindi
"Chadh chetak pe talwar utha rakhtaa tha bhutal paani ko
Raana Pratap sir kaat kaat karta tha safal jawani ko"

I am missing something in first line.

Also find few lines written by Pandit Naresh mishra about Maharana Pratap
"Ye dharati vani putron ke amar gaan ki hai
shabda saadhakon ke digvijay lakshaya daan ki hai
Yaha lekhani ne zameer ko becha nahi kabhi
Yeh dharati RAANA PRATAP ke swabhiman ki he

                            Ruins of Moti Mahal

After that i went to Fateh Sagar lake, which was full with local crowd and college boys-gals.

It was almost evening,so i started for chittaurgarh which was another 110 Kms from Udaipur.

                            Few Kms before Chittaurgarh

Reached Chittaurgarh at 7:00 in the night.Booked an hotel nearby Chittaurgarh fort for 300 buks.Last time i was at this place on 14-15 Aug 2009,i booked very cheap hotel neaby bus stand for 80 buks.

                            Cheers
