I wonder how did I miss the thread for so long?! Great ride beruoist. Really feel nice to see a biker touring to his heart's content. Can you please pen some words down too? The pics are already speaking a thousand words, but we would love to hear a few from the man himself!

Packed my stuff and started rolling at 4 PM Saturday..Still undecided.I reached Western Express Highway where i had to decide which way and which places to go.If i go left i will be hitting NH8 and Rajasthan and if right i had to go thru the shitty traffic to reach the NH4 or NH17 for any

Beru, do tell me, what are the formalities needed to enter Nepal on your bike.
Thanks Dude.Entering into Nepal is a very easy task.Permit you have to take is called "BANSAR".Go to the border office..submit xerox of your bike's paper and any of the ID proof.and depending on the number of days a fee is charged. For me they charged 1200 NC for 10 days.Bansar gets made in hardly 20-30 mins, without any bribe .

Thanks Animeher. In all these days i have suffered many ups n downs.Had sweet and bitter expiriences. In all an expirience of a lifetime. And more to that i lost 10 Kgs in 25 days in this ride ..which i regained in 2 weeks anyway

              DAY 2
              CHITTAURGARH - AJMER - PUSHKAR - PHALODI

There is a saying about the Chittaurgarh Fort

"Taalon me Taal Nainital..Baaki sab Talaiyya
Raja me Raja Bhoj..Baaki sab Rajaiyya
Rani me Rani Padmini(or Padmavati !!)..Baaki sab Ranaiyya
Aur Garhon me garh Chittaurgarh..Baaki sab Gadhaiyya"

Today i am going to verify, how true is the last line.
To reach at the top of the Chittorgarh Fort one have to cross through zigzag paths interrupted at intervals by seven huge gateways(pols). They are named as Padan Pol, Bhairon Pol, Hanuman Pol, Ganesh Pol, Jorla Pol, Lakshman Pol, and Ram Pol.

              One of the gateway

Reached at the top,got a guide for 100 Rs and a nominal 10 rs entry fees.
Chittorgarh is Grandest fort in Rajasthan and largest in India having peripheral length of 13 KM.
Rajput Kings who ruled this fort were the real Suryavanshi's,who laid down their life fighting a superior enemy instead of leading a life of submission.

This fort have been through three major SIEGES.
One by Ala Udin Khiji of Delhi,Second by Bahadur Shah of Gujarat and third by Akbar. In all three times thousands of women commited self-immolation,which is also called as Jauhar.

              Mirabai Temple

Other than the ruins in the fort, main attraction of this place are

              Vijay Stambh
              Kirti Stambh
              Gaumukh
              Bhimtal Tank

              Bhimtal Tank

              Sammidheshwara Temple

              Another Entrance of the fort

Vijay Stambh - This tower was built by Rana Kumbha,in remembarance of his victory over Mahmud Khilji of Malwa. It took 10 years to build this tower. Its a eight story structure. One can go till the 7th floor using the stairs, but the stairs to reach the 8th floor has been broken down.Because one firang commited suicide from the 8th floor.

Kirti Stabh - Its a Seven story structure. It is dedicated to the first Jain spiritual teacher,Shri Adinath. One can go till the top of this structure as well, but the entrance and the stairway is very narrow.

              jain temple

              Kirti Stambha

Gaumukh - This was the main source of water during the main sieges.

See the water stream in the left..

              Gaumukh Resevior

              Kumbha Shyam Temple

              Feeding a Langoor

              Rana Kumbha Palace

              Padmini's palace
The first siege to this palace was because of the beauty of Rani Padmini.Damn, was she that beautiful !!.

Sultan Ala-ud-din Khilji, the ruler of Delhi, came to know about Padmini's beauty, he requested Rana Rattan Singh (Padmini's husband) to allow him to have a glimpse of the queen. Sultan permitted Khilji to see only the reflection of the queen in a water tank that too coming from reflection of series of mirrors which was located in another palace.Damn good set up it was.Ala-ud-din got Crazy-Mad after seeing Padmini's beauty and he attacked Chittor in order to possess her. This became the cause of first bitter and bloody siege of the Chittorgarh fort and the subsequent mass self-immolation(Jauhar)

              Set-up for Rani Padmini darshan

Khilji will be seeing the image build up in the water into this mirror..

And rani will be sitting on the stairs there.though there was no water around the mahal at that time.
However if khijli had turned to see the rani directly..then stairs are not visible from that place..you have to go to the window to see it directly.

              Rooms for Daasi's

              Padmini Palace

Some fort on the way to Padmini palace

I roamed all over the fort campus for 3 hours and i was very much touched with beauty of the fort, brave stories of the Rajput kings and Rajput janata.I salute all those brave mens and womens from all my heart.

I moved back to Hotel, collected my stuff and started for jaisalmer. In between got a call from an consultant for an opening in IBM.I asked him to schedule my technical round tomorrow after 3 PM .

Continued on the 4 lane highway, just 120 (approx) before jaipur there is exit for ajmer.

              Few kms before Ajmer

Reached Ajmer in the afternoon.Plan was to pay a visit in Ajmer Dargah Sharif.Dargah Sharif is the burial ground of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Chisti.after little bit of enquiring i was in very thin lanes of Ajmer city.I doubted that, whether i am going on the correct route or not. Finally met two fellows in activa who were going on the same direction. So they asked me to follow them. With all my luggage (Tank bag-Saddle bag) i was cutting and moving ahead on my R15 on those very thin lanes. And then we made it to Dargah.I coudn't blv,how inside the Dargah is and one have to cross those confusing narrow lanes to reach till there.Parked my bike, purchased a chadar, did the darshan and started for Puskhar

In between met a paaji who gave comment seeing all my gears "Apne toh angrejon ko bhi peeche chode dia".Pushkar is quite close from Ajmer around 13 - 15 Kms.

Went to the famous Bramha temple, there are very few temples of Bramha and this is one of them.though Bramha is Creator of Universe, but he is not prayed and worshiped very uch.As far as i know he was cursed by some very Known and powerful Saint and due to that only he is not worshipped at all

              Camera not allowed inside.

Later i went to Pushkar lake, though it did not had much water.Lake is surrounded by 52 ghats. These ghats are of different different kings of the surrounding regions. In the time of Pushkar Mela, these kings pay a visit to Pushkar lake to have a dip in this sacred lake.
I didn't missed the chance to take a dip ...Also did some poojan for Poorvaj Shanti etc...with the help of a local Pandit

It was time to move ahead, the route i had to take was..Merta - Nagaur - Phalodi - Jaisalmer. Some peoples suggested to visit Meera Bai's temple in Merta.Which is birth place of Meera Bai.I gave a quick visit to the temple as it was getting dark.

I reached Nagaur around 9 o clock in the night.Couldn't find an decent accomodation so moved ahead for Phalodi, which was another 170 Kms (approx).Damn those 170 kms were nightmare for me.initial 20 Kms were good but then..rest of the 150 Kms all the road was covered with thick layer of sand.

No sign of any kind of living creatures-human beings.Got very scared when saw some animal skulls right on the road,i just ran from there with full throttle .I made it to Phalodi at 2 AM.Saw one dhaba with Khatiyas, had an maaza and crashed into the Khatiya.

              Cheers
              Biru

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

                            DAY 3
                            PHALODI - JAISALMER

Today's morning started with a shock, while sleeping on khatiya..I slept over my mobile and its touch screen got broken.Damn, what is going to happen with my interview. What a start of the day.Had my morning tea at the dhaba but what about the daily DO stuff .Filled water bottle from the dhaba in case of any emergency call and started moving towards Bikaner.finally the call came and i started hunting for the place and finally i had to do it under a small bridge to avoid any unecessary attention .

                            Yeah,I made it

                            Windmill Windmill for the Land..Gorillaz

Road was in very good condition with no traffic at all.I reached the Golden City around 10 AM.Started hunting for acomodation.Local public suggested to stay on the hotels which are inside the fort compound. This fort is second oldest fort in Rajasthan built by Rajput King Jaisal.
So i checked in a hotel for 300 bucks.Next thing was to purchase a mobile phone.Went to the main market and bought the Samsung GURU.Cheapest of the lot

SONAR QUILA - Rising from the sand
One amazing thing about this fort is that 25 % of the citys population resides within the walls of the fort. There are series of gates after tha main entrance which leads to the courtyard.
Inside those fort walls its a whole world with shops, peoples and kids playing around.Jain Temples, palace of the former King.

Those sculpted walls and the numerous balconies were the main attractions of the fort. The doorways connecting the rooms of the fort are quite low.Intentionally made so that everyone walking from the corridors to the room has to maintain a low stature in front of the King and his Queens. Lol ! these kings would do anything for getting respect..jokes a part

                            Gadi Sagar Lake
Beautiful lake, solely fed by rainwater. It was orignally designed to provide town with fresh water. It has got few temples and plenty of ghats in its lap.

I was too tired,so after visiting the Gadi sagar lake i went back to hotel and slept for couple of hours. In between i got the call from the consultat for the conformation of the Technical round,i requested him to schedule it tomorrow by giving some solid but silly reasons
It was almost evening when i woke up,time was around 4:45.I had planned to visit SAM dunes in the evening.SAM sand dunes is around 15-20 Kms from Jaisalmer. So i quickly got dressed and started rolling.

Reached Sand dunes around 5:30.It was time for a camel ride.First time in my life i had seen desert and first time in my life i was about to ride on a Camel.I was the totally enjoying these new expiriences.Camel owners demand too much for an hour or 30 mins ride.they said 500 for 30 mins. But didn't knew that they are in front of Master of Bargainers
finally i took ther rate down to 100 rs for an 30 mins .Dont ask how as it took 15-20 mins in all this

Riding camel was fun,but scary too.On couple of instances i thought i am going to fall, but nothing serious happened.

In between met few peoples from Mumbai who has come to Jaisalmer on their friends marraige.

While returning from SAM it got dark, stopped at one of the Pol(Gate) for a click

After the bumpy camel ride came back to the hotel, had rajasthani thaali at the marketplace.Food was very tasty but bit heavy as well, quantity wise.

                            Burp !..Time for some relaxation.

                            Cheers

Rohit.. you reminded me of my Rajasthan trip.. which I did last week.. I did delhi - Ajmer - Udaipur - Chittorgarh - Jaipur - Delhi. 6 days in a Cage.
Initially the plan was to cover jodhpur and Jaisalmer too.. But since it was with family.. I had to cut down both.. as it would have been very hectic for my mom and sister.

Loved the Chittorgarh Fort. F**king damn good. I loved it over every other fort of Udaipur and Jaipur. The history of that fort is way inspiring. And that Padmini thing was funny too.. Kilji asking for Rana's wife..

And how can we forget beautiful queen Padmini..because of which thousand of peoples and Rana himself got Killed .
But i liked the legacy of all the Rajput's who ruled here they were real Suryavanshi's.They never surrendered to anyone

                                Cheers
