Back from Goa yesterday Dec 2 and rode via Chorla ghat both ways. Most parts of the road from Belgaum towards Jamboti has been patched up with gravel and smoothed over. After Delta restaurant towards the descent into Goa has also been patched up in similar fashion but there are a couple of places with potholes on corners which suddenly loom up. The 5 speed breakers located just as one exits Belgaum to the beginning of the ghat section and which used to lie on the straight section have all been levelled [emoji4]. Ride with caution. 95% of this ghat is in good condition. Since Amboli ghat is in ruins a lot of motorists are now using Chorla so expect an increased amount of traffic.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Had driven from Velhe to Nasrapur in March that time they were putting up new tar and ridden in monsoons from Khadakwasala to Pabhe was ok, what is your route?Originally posted by Throttlefreak View PostI'm planning a ride to Torna Fort on Dec 17th. Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
You would be better off going via NH17. Smooth ride all the way from Mumbai via Pune, Satara, Karad and Kolhapur. You have a choice to cross over to the coast via Amba ghat from Karad or from Kolhapur via Gaganbawda.Originally posted by vigneshnm View PostHow is NH17 now? I'm planning a ride to Kunkeshwar from Mumbai at Dec end and I'm wondering if I should go entirely by nh17 or go by nh4 till kolhapur and come by gaganbawda?Ride To Live

I think there is 4 to 6 lane work going on NH17 especially in Raigad district. Do confirm first.Originally posted by vigneshnm View PostHow is NH17 now? Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Went for a morning ride yesterday towards Sholapur from Pune. Did about 100 km and road conditions are good all throughout. Best of all, once past Pune outskirts, there are no speed breakers.Ride To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Condition as on 15th, Dec 2018 :
To whomever planning to visit Shirdi via Nagar road, avoid Ahmednagar-Shirdi bypass (Unless you have a bigger SUV or going by truck or don't care if your ride is damaged). Bypass road condition is extremely pathetic. Instead go through Ahmednagar town. The route through town might be longer in terms of KMS but time taken is almost the same if not less.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Absolutely agree. They have some nerve calling that shitty stretch a bypass and not surprised that it continues to be in a terrible state, despite having tried that nerve racking road a couple of years ago. The roads in Maharashtra really suck and lag way behind neighbouring states like KA, Guj and MP. Thanks for the update.Originally posted by shyam.mora View PostCondition as on 15th, Dec 2018 :

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
I can add TS as well. I rode from Hyderabad to Pune back in March-April 2016 and although it threw me the sweet Solapur road, the rest of it feels so beaten and discarded.Originally posted by akshay View PostAbsolutely agree. And what's with the dumb patch work they're doing now especially on the Nagar road all the way from Bombay Sappers to Kharadi Bypass?Regards,

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Hello,
I'm riding to Indore next week from Mumbai. Could someone please give an update? I read in today's Mumbai Mirror that the road is full of potholes, esp. the Thane-Bhiwandi stretch. I also saw some pretty scary looking photos of Kasara Ghat.
Thanks
