    Just drizzles. Didn't encounter heavy rains anywhere.

    I had started on Saturday but got really drowsy after Kolhapur. Parties with the Mumbai xbhp gang ruined my biological clock Didn't wanna a take the risk of riding in that condition. Rested well in Belgaum and the next day rode like a man possessed. While going towards Pune my record was 360 kms and would have reached in under 12 hrs. But couldn't do it coz of the crash.

    EDIT: Tourer section deserves more interesting places. The GQ is bloody boring man. Besides my cam malfunctioned in the rains in Mumbai

      Mumbai to Bangalore in a bike is pretty interesting in whatever respects man. Don't be lazy now! Besides, I am sure you had pretty interesting experiences.

        Was this over Saturday and Sunday (day before, and yesterday)? Because GS and me were on the same route coming back to Bangalore..

            Yeah GS stopped in Hubli, while I went up there to meet him. We left Hubli by noon yesterday and got back by around 6.15.

            Guru left Mumbai by around 6.30 on Saturday and reached Hubli by 2.30 I think.

            I think we were either front/behind you by a couple of hours..

            We've got some pics.. will put them up soon.

              I started from Belgaum in the morning at 6:00. So when you guys were riding out of Hubli I was almost home.

              Went through GS's trip log. I was behind him by an hour or so uptil Kolhapur. Then everything went downhill for me. Got really drowsy and stopped in Belgaum around 4:30. How I rode from Kolhapur till Belgaum I don't remember at all. Only enjoyed riding through Kambakthi ghats. Was freaking awesome overtaking the Safaris and Swifts People were gaping on seeing someone riding with saddlebags, leaning.

              Kolhapur to Hubli is the best stretch. Very little pedestrian activity and traffic isn't much.

                  It was a Saturday so lots of bikers were there. I showed them a thing or two about leaning with saddlebags

                  Advice from a fool: Don't eat chocolates when riding. Its a relaxant and makes you feel sleepy. I took them along thinking it'll be a good snack when I take butt breaks.

                    It will make you feel sleeply if you are sleep deprived.

                      I felt sleepy even after 7 hrs of sleep Can't take the risk so I would be avoiding it from now on.

                        Where can I get the following:
                        • Waterproof pouches for mobile, cell (the ones that have a sealable opening
                        • Reflective tape for affixing to luggage
                        • Shoe cover for rain-riding. Don't trust Woddland much
                        My usual source eBay India doen't have any of these.

                          How to counter crosswinds on the highway....I always get imbalanced on my Apache whenever there is a crosswind, and it becomes very uncomfortable and scary even to ride at 80kmph...had a lot of problems riding from Chennai to Vellore last night on NH-4.....
                          plz give your inputs on this issue....

                            How about a Waterproof Mobile...Samsung has launched its waterproof, dust proof & shockproof mobile- the Samsung Explorer...check it out..

                              A good thread, I think there should be a list of items to be carried while on touring. Also a few must DIYs for tourers to learn.
                              I know the list of tools is subjective, but even to the person who is a total newb at mechanical stuff (like me), the importance of carrying a spare key can never be over emphasized. We saw one guy who lost his brand new P-180 key at Kuntala Waterfalls last time&man was he worried!
