Like the saying goes...helmets hai zaroori na samjho isse majboori...
Fact is, people are more likely to have a life threatening injury without a helmet than STD's without rubber. So go ahead wear a helmet.

Boolean is a good choice, you could also try the slick brand, fortune helmets which are modular dont whistle much (tested to 100+ speeds)...and a VFM.

See... it's not just me. We at xBhp are weird. We go through all the pains of wearing a helmet, spending money (good money) to choose and buy a good one, carry it around as baggage, etc. What to do...? as they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em..!
    +100...
I come to office everyday with a helmet and biking gloves (not the roadside ones). Rides are compulsarily with knee and elbow guards (minimum), waiting eagerly for riding jacket.
    Ride safe, ATB.
Riding the BULL....(with out the LET)...

          Hi guys,

i have this little doubt about touring across states. When we enter in a different state other than where the vehicle is registered do we need to carry a Police/CID no objection certificate?.i dont mean NOC from RTO but from Cops stating that the bike is not involved in any accident. This was asked to me while i was riding in Pune after i argued that i can, for 6months, ride in other state w/o NOC from RTO.

Dear Zayn and others, as one of our mate has talked about the NOC well, it is very true that you have to have an NOC with you but again it is in case if you have moved from one state to another and are in the new state for approx. 6 months or over.

So as to say, that you can tour through out the country without the the NOC but you have to have the NOC if you are staying or moved to a new state and it has been more than close to 6 months.
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Ok, small correction...one can use his automobile for touring in other states as long as it is not beyond 6 months in the newer state, pertaining to which, one has to obtain the NOC from the former State and get his vehicle registered in new state.

                        • I'm planning a solo journey of approx 400-500 kms. From mumbai to pune - vai - mahabaleswar. i own a R15. What precautions do i need to take for the bike apart from the gear ill be wearing. Do i need to take breaks at certain intervals. This will be my first ever bike trip.

                          • @Nicky: Just keep your cool, remain calm and ride on. Simply enjoy the ride, and keep an eye on the road. That should be all, I believe. You know how to ride a motorcycle, you will easily make it. Ride safe.

Since the R15 is a liquid cooled bike, you don't have to worry about overheating etc.
Tech wise also its foolproof. There is a spare fuse under the seat, learn how to change that. Carry a tubeless tyre puncture repair kit. I guess that should be enough precaution.
While riding, don't get swayed by empty roads, stick to a speed which will leave you with enough reaction time in case someone/something suddenly jumps in, for eg.keep the speed upto 80kmph on 2 lane roads&100kmph on 4 lane roads. Controlled speed blasts are also fine, keep an eye out for bigger vehicles changing lanes etc.
Of course you already know the importance of riding gear. You must use a balaclava inside the helmet. Keep a scratchless visor ready. Do NOT use tinted visor for night riding. If not accustomed, better avoid night riding.
Make sure that you stop freqently enough so as to not let your body get dehydrated&also eat light meals. Relax&enjoy the ride!
