thanks buddy for the superquick reply.i would like to bother you some more..if you dont mind ,that is and can take some time off to guide me.(this will also be helpful for all west coast people from mumbai to calicut if they can find the nearest route.)

Im charting out to plan my journey.I have been through kerala roads many times before enroute munnar, kodai, ooty etc from mangalore.but this is first time Im planning on this route as the google map shows it as nearest .

        mangalore-payyanur-taliparamba-sreekandapuram-

will revert back on confusuion if any.

          • could anybody review this route and clarify please?

            ROUTE:
mangalore-payyanur-taliparamba-sreekandapuram-irrikur-iritty-nedumpoil-(from here there are two routes to boys town)-mananthavady-panamaram-sulthan battery-gudalur-ooty
google says 387 kms in 8 hrs 41 mts.( i doubt the timings knowing the traffic conditions in kerala)

now my confusion is nedumpoil to boys town.since chandanathoodu-periya-boys town is wider and better surface i would like to take that.but what is the exact route from nedumpoil (upper on map)to chandathoodu? google is not clear and also has another town called nedumpoil (lower on map)?

1.could you please give exact directions for this part of the route?
2.any comments on my route as whole?road surface especially and alternatives if road is very bad.

            • i can only say that you'll enjoy payyanur-taliparamba-sreekandapuram-irrikur-iritty road. the route you selected is the best available i think. don't think too much about nedumpoil to boys town, take any of those two( don't expect smooth suraface like payyannur to iritty). take the periya road because its easy to climb and i think road is slightly better too.

              • Bangalore-Muzhappilangad beach

Hi All...last weekend me and my friends went to Muzhappilangad beach (thalassery) from bangalore...its the only drive in beach in south india..
While going we took the kabini-manathavady-nedumpoil-thalassery route..
As theRedPill said there in no road through kabini forest..i mean its full muddy...that will be the condition for around 15-20km..after that once you enter forest its good road but keep an eye on the surroundings..U will find a lot of animals out there..deers are like so common..also in between we saw elephants and we had to stop as it was quite near to the road. Later forest jeep came and asked us to keep moving and off we went...mananthavady to nedumpoil was a nice experience with good sight seeing stuffs...we did stop in couple of locations for taking snaps..but the roads are not that good..you have potholes every now and then...
So when it was time for returning we had to plan for another route. We already knew the iritty-mattannur-gonikoppal-hunsur route is also in bad condition...
We asked some local there and they suggested another route which is offcourse more distance but the roads are awesome...
                route is thalassery--koyilandy--thamarassery through churam(hillway road)--sulthan battery--mysore...
The roads are really good....the thamarassery churam was not that easy with big potholes and stones on the hair pin bends...ofcourse it has lot of locations for taking good snaps especially once you reach the top...
                ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
With great power comes great responsibility...

                  • Bangalore to Murdeshwara

                    Hi Folks,

Last month I had been to my native(Idagunji) which is near murdeshwara from Bangalore by byke, total distance 450km. Bangalore-Shimoga road isn't good. near Kadur and birur road was really worst. when you are about to reach 60-70kmph you will find the path holes. from Shimoga to Sagara road is really awsome. from Sagar-jogfalls-gersoppa road also worst. but you will love the ghat section.

By the way in Bangalore-shimoga road road patching was going on. hope that might have completed by this time.
