@Rachit: I guess ZMA will do Delhi-Leh-Delhi with one servicing, right?
Yes, ZMR and Bullet both will go Delhi-Leh-Delhi with one servicing.

Air filter needs to be changed or cleaned during the journey(I think especially before climbing the hills). Ties are the special elastic type threads which are used for tying the bags in the bikes.

      Oh! you mean bungee cords
Air filter needs to be cleaned, hmmm! Will talk to Rachit/Razor for this, to do it where in the mountains?

Yes, one servicing is fine. But you know what, we never did any servicing throughout the ride of Mumbai-Leh-Mumbai in 21 days & for 6500kms. Just changed the oil twice. Also one thing to keep in mind is, you may find it difficult to get the Engine Oil you may need. So try to carry it before manali only. The reason we never did servicing is, we didnt wanted to fiddle with our machine settings as it was fine. Just minor niggles where checked at Delhi. You can get your bikes checked in Delhi with the help of Delhi-xBHPians. Through their reference our bikes where checked as per the further Himalaya Ride by a mechanic 'Iqbal'. He was excellent. You will know his expertise once you meet him personally. Superb guy.
Not even a minor change was done on mine & Winzees bike. The bullet guy (Prasad) had to change his clutch plates & the exhaust on the way. Gopi got some carb setting done I guess, dont remember though.
If you wish, you can get the carb setting done for the ZMA for high altitude. Else you can asses the proper RPM range where you can hold the throttle at times of difficulty you may face on the altitude. I think keeping the rev between 3-4k RPM should be perfect. You will judge this on your own.

Yes, we use to keep lubing the chain as an when we remember in the mountains. So carry a used oil or the old engine oil.

p.s. I think ties he meant by the Bungee Cords...

            Thanks Fella,

I am changing the new clutch plate and exhaust before the trip. Hopefully I do not have to do it once again.

Only challenge is Engine and clutch oil. Enfield takes 2 ltrs (apart from petrol from tandi), carrying may be a problem.

Can any one suggest, from the bullet perspective what the precautions one should take care...are I am riding bullet for the first time... I brought it a month back especially for this trip.

Yeah.. it drink petrol like anything. But performs superbly. Did you have the ladakh carrier fitted on your bike.
this is of Prasad from our trip

                (Click, to enlarge)

There was a different mechanic for Bullet specially in Delhi. Dont remember the name, delhi xBHPians would be the best to help you out. He was only bullet specialist.

For other bikes no need to carry extra petrol from tandi, except for Bullet. Just for safer side, you may carry some for other bikes. But for bullet, surely you may need petrol even after a full tank from Tandi.

I thought of putting a Ladakh carrier, but I read in some blog that it is difficult to drive in crowed area (inside cities). So I though I will tie the bags (like other bikes) and fit one carrier at the end of the seat which I will use for carrying petrol.

Is there any special setting needs to be done in bullet for long / hill drive.

Yes, in cities you will have a bit difficult time to drive with this carrier. But hardly you will be driving inside the cities. Its extremely convenient. You can carry your stuff & petrol quiet easily.
Am not sure about any special settings to be done. Prasad, didnt do any settings though, even his was 6months old. But he had to change the exhaust once in Delhi, as they said with the stock silencer, he may have tough time riding up on the altitude.

One more question... How much petrol did prasad carried from tandi. What was the average on hills?
