I agree. Moreover, a Ladakh trip is more than just riding to the places. For me, it's about exploring it and trying to photograph it in a 'different' manner, although Leh is not in my itinerary this year; Chandratal is!Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post

@MG- I appreciate you mentioning the need of 23 days. I will look into the plan again, and if necessary, I'll stretch the plan a little bit.. Thanks a lot anyways!

Dude this is crazy, day 13 is useless if you try to do it in a day. I'v heard that it takes 3 days to n fro. why just go-touch-back?Originally posted by rals.aro View Post
Day13: Tso Moriri-Namshang La-Puga Sumdo-Tso Kar-Pang Intersection-Tanglang La-Upshi-Karu-Leh (234kms)

@Rals: I believe the rest have summed it up. Infact, we too had a similar altercation over one of your best blogger thread where you mistook my opinion and thought I was being harsh. Anyways, I would just like to mention one line that I always abide to : "Your attitude reflects your altitude".
Coming back to your itenerary, please find my comments inline
A tip: "LA" is tibetian for "pass". In Himachal we use "jot". So that would be Jalori Jot.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostHow are ya fellow bikers?? I'm gonna get myself geared up this summer & head for the heights...
So here's up my plan for getting Leh'd guys! This is just a pre-ride summary, the actual schedule might differ depending upon what time tells me...
Day1: New Delhi-Panipat-Karnal-Ambala-Chandigarh-Solan-Shimla (368kms)
Day2: Shimla-Kufri-Theog-Luhri-Jalori La (10,280 ft)-Kullu-Manali (260kms)
Same as above, though some do mention it as La primarily because, it being the gateway to lahaul and lahaulis also comprise of tibetians, cross border.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay3: Manali-Rohtang La (13,051 ft)-Karcha-Kunzum La (14,931 ft)-Chandra Taal (14,100 ft)-Kaza (165kms)
And the distance is 200 kms, not 165. This day is pretty long and will take you ~10-12 hrs to cover.
Another long day! Similar timings. I would suggest skipping Spiti altogether as you would end up mixing things. Ladakh and Spiti both have their repective charms and should be done separately. But since you are doing it, I would advise another day in kaza for the surrounding areas.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay4: Kaza-Rohtang La (13,051 ft)-Keylong (154kms)
Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay9: Hunder-Diskit-Sumur-Panamik-Sumur-Khardung La-Leh (206kms)You don't need to go to Spangmik. Lukung is on the banks of the Pangong, and it will suffice. Spangmik is another 13 kms away.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay10: Leh-Karu-Shakti-Wari La-Shakti-Chang La-Tangtse-Lukung-Spangmik-Pangong Tso (Changthang Plateau) (217kms)
Another huge day! 12-15 hrs riding.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay11: Pangong Tso-Phobrang Diversion-Phobrang-Marsimek La-Phobrang-Phobrang Diversion-Tangtse-Chang La-Shakti-Karu-Upshi (202kms)
For these days be SURE to carry fuel from Karu. You will not any fuel pump enroute. And if the petrol pump at Karu is closed, then you would have to head back to Leh for fuel, disrupting your timings.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay12: Upshi-Chumathang-Mahe-Puga Sumdo-Namshang La-Karzok Village-Tso Moriri (164kms)
Day13: Tso Moriri-Namshang La-Puga Sumdo-Tso Kar-Pang Intersection-Tanglang La-Upshi-Karu-Leh (234kms)
Rangdum is not in Zanskar. Zanskar starts post Pensi-la.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay15: Kargil-Sanko-Rangdum (Zanskar Valley) (124kms)
Since you are going to Pensi la, I would advise going further till Padum (Ad. capital of Zanskar) and witness the beauty Zanskar has to offer.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay16: Rangdum-Pensi La (14,000 ft)-Rangdum-Kargil (165kms)
Another very long ride. Leave as early as possible.Originally posted by rals.aro View PostDay18: Gulmarg-Srinagar-Anantnag-Jammu-Pathankot-Amritsar (554kms)
For any other query you have, ask. But please be polite in asking. Remember, to gain respect, you have to give respect. High time for introspection perhaps?

@Kurt: Manali to Kaza is 165kms, not via Chandra Tal, I might have mistakenly entered it. Will edit! If Kaza has beauty to offer, I'll surely go for another day there.. I'll drop Spangmik n go uptill Lukung for Pangong Tso! And I'll surely consider Padum if time permits.
Thanks for the suggestions..
Bdw, Is Rangdum in Suru Valley?

Ask any travel agent in Manali and confirm the same.
The road should be completely thrown open to public (both light and heavy vehicles) by the may unless a miracle happens and completely surprises me!" I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not" - Kurt Cobain
