    hello friends....

    i hav been recently in manali..
    the route till spiti was clear....
    but it ll take more 15-20 days to clear the route till leh...according to travel agents in manali...

    guys can anybody let me know.. where i can hire a bike in manali
    any contact info & price...??

      What happened guys, its been a long time and nobody has said anything about trip to leh/ spiti. I wanna join in, i was planning to go with my friends in July- August, we gonna be 3 bikers (including me) and 1 or 2 four wheelers, so our stuff will be in the 4 wheelers and not on top of our bikes.

        Hello all..Me along with 3 friends will leave for Leh on our motorbikes on 27th May.We will start our trip from Delhi..I have prepared an Itinerary and I am posting it below..Kindly suggest if you people feel any changes are required..

                    Need help with itinerary

                    Hi,
                    I might be going for a Leh trip this year (July/Aug). I need some inputs from people who are familiar with the circuit. Attached a snapshot of our plan. Plan to start from Blr/Pune and go upto Delhi by train/air

                    The idea is to enjoy the ride and not treat it as a race to the finish line.

                    Questions:
                    1. Can we do Manali to Sarchu in a day. Right now I have split it in two. Will we miss too much in terms of the scenic ride.
                    2. How do I include Tso Moriri in this ride. Is there a route from Pangong Tso to Moriri? How can we adjust the fuel requirements.
                    3. How is the route from Sarchu to Leh. Is this doable in a day or will it be too much
                    4. We plan to spend a night in both Nubra valley and at Pangong Tso. Do we *have* to return to Leh from here. Can we do Pangong Tso to Nubra in a day and spend the night in Nubra. Visit Hunder etc. the next day and return to Leh via KLa the same day in the evening.
                    5. What are the conditions during the 2nd week of August? Is it recommended from Aug15 to Aug31 or should we do it in July?

                    Any other inputs?

                      For people going to Leh, I have few requests.

                      1. Can you get a spare form for obtaining the permits and scan and upload the blank form online? I am sure it will help a lot of people.
                      2. Can we maintain some sort of list of Leh and Ladakh hotels, their phone numbers along with short reviews etc?

                        Heres a link to a list thats maintained on BCM touring. they also had a copy of the forms somewhere. Will post it if I find it.

                            I have put the answers in order of your questions..

                            Questions:
                            1. Can we do Manali to Sarchu in a day. Right now I have split it in two. Will we miss too much in terms of the scenic ride.

                            Manali-Sarchu is 230 kms...Very doable in a day..if you want to ride more relaxed then you can stay at Darcha overnight,which would be 146 kms from Manali...The next day you can cover Darcha-Pang or Moore plains depending upon your choice..

                            2. How do I include Tso Moriri in this ride. Is there a route from Pangong Tso to Moriri? How can we adjust the fuel requirements.

                            You can reach Tso Moriri from Pangong if you go via Chusul(Chusul-Tsaga La-Dunti-Loma -Mahe-Puga Sumdo-Namshang La-Tso Moriri)For fuel coke ka funda azmao..Carry fuel in coke bottles prefferebly,or jerry can if you wish..

                            3. How is the route from Sarchu to Leh. Is this doable in a day or will it be too much

                            The way from Sarchu til Leh is okay..Sarch-Leh is 260 kms rougly...Decide if you can do that in a day..Also refer the answer to point one for this...

                            4. We plan to spend a night in both Nubra valley and at Pangong Tso. Do we *have* to return to Leh from here. Can we do Pangong Tso to Nubra in a day and spend the night in Nubra. Visit Hunder etc. the next day and return to Leh via KLa the same day in the evening.

                            Yes Pangong to Nubra can be done in a day and then you can move back to Leh...

                            July and August are considered the best seasons,you wil find monsoon in the plains though..

                                Looks like everyone is heading to Leh this summer ! Including us

                                We are planning to go somewhere around last week of july and first week of August. Can't get any time offs before that . Just wanted to ask the ppl who've already been Leh'ed if it's a good time to visit the place?
