I agree. Moreover, a Ladakh trip is more than just riding to the places. For me, it's about exploring it and trying to photograph it in a 'different' manner, although Leh is not in my itinerary this year; Chandratal is!

Dude this is crazy, day 13 is useless if you try to do it in a day. I'v heard that it takes 3 days to n fro. why just go-touch-back?

But dude, I guess what some experienced bikers told me & from what I made out of maps online, is that this route is very much approachable. And y do u think that m gona touch & go..? I already did 12th day for tso moriri n exploring it!

Coming back to your itenerary, please find my comments inline

A tip: "LA" is tibetian for "pass". In Himachal we use "jot". So that would be Jalori Jot.

Same as above, though some do mention it as La primarily because, it being the gateway to lahaul and lahaulis also comprise of tibetians, cross border.

And the distance is 200 kms, not 165. This day is pretty long and will take you ~10-12 hrs to cover.

Another long day! Similar timings. I would suggest skipping Spiti altogether as you would end up mixing things. Ladakh and Spiti both have their repective charms and should be done separately. But since you are doing it, I would advise another day in kaza for the surrounding areas.

You don't need to go to Spangmik. Lukung is on the banks of the Pangong, and it will suffice. Spangmik is another 13 kms away.

Another huge day! 12-15 hrs riding.

For these days be SURE to carry fuel from Karu. You will not any fuel pump enroute. And if the petrol pump at Karu is closed, then you would have to head back to Leh for fuel, disrupting your timings.

Rangdum is not in Zanskar. Zanskar starts post Pensi-la.

Since you are going to Pensi la, I would advise going further till Padum (Ad. capital of Zanskar) and witness the beauty Zanskar has to offer.

@Kurt: Manali to Kaza is 165kms, not via Chandra Tal, I might have mistakenly entered it. Will edit! If Kaza has beauty to offer, I'll surely go for another day there.. I'll drop Spangmik n go uptill Lukung for Pangong Tso! And I'll surely consider Padum if time permits.

The route will only be open next month. The clearing process is complete till Zing-Zingbar. The next major hurdle is baralacha la.

Ask any travel agent in Manali and confirm the same.

The road should be completely thrown open to public (both light and heavy vehicles) by the may unless a miracle happens and completely surprises me!

I guess next month is fine with me coz I plan to ride in Mid-June.. I hope most of the passes are cleared by then!
