  • Re: Tyres

    Guys,
I'm looking to change the stock rear tyre on my ZMA R since its begun to rain again and these MRF stocks have terrible wet grip. I'm really only interested in good grip in both wet and dry conditions with reliable cornering. Looks, thicker stylized tyres and brands are less important compared to traction. I'd prefer a tubeless tyre , if at all possible, to reduce puncture troubles.
    Please do suggest some options.

EDIT: Reading the past posts on this thread it seems Sirac street is popular but some batches made by TVS are terrible. Is it worth risking them? Can we spot a TVS made Sirac before fitting?

Hey guys, could anyone throw some light on the Michelin Pilot Street Radials, for the 200NS and the R15 V2.0. Type of use is regular with occasional cornering. Also want to know if they stick better than the stock tyres of these two bikes.

What options are available for Hunk Rear Tyre(100/90 * 18) from Ceat. Is ceat Gripp(seeing many good reviews) available for the same.?

I heard about Michelin ones are good on 200NS since I am following this thread lot of mentions are there for this tyre. I am also planning to check those out in nearest Michelin store soon. Do you know if I can sell my existing 200NS stock tyres in exchange of new ones? Will 140 section tyre make our bike sluggish? I just need a softer compound.

for soft compound you can opt pirelli 130/70 meaty rubber but prone to punctures and it too is radial.well in gzb no tyre dealer buys old tyres but in delhi they could give few bucks.

i too have doubt that will it make bike sluggish? i've heard that with 130/70 revz, the height of the bike decreases which would affect handling, whereas at michelin height remains same and broadness increases thereby increasing stability. i just want to get it cleared which is best in both.

One of my friend is running on 150/70 R17 without any modification to swing arm, though i feel it's overkill for the engine, 140/70 R17's are perfect.

After being bugged and pissed off by the shitty Michellin Pilot sport rear . Finally went out today looking for a new option. Almost every tyre is already tested by me and there was nothing I could still love as much as a pair of Pilreli's. However, Pirellis are not available anywhere in 17 size. So was looking around for options.

Saw something new, the tyres are from Ralco (previously ralson ). I remember using there tyres in my cycle. Decided to give these a try.

                      The tyres are:-
                      Front is 90/90-17 Blaster F
                      Rear is 120/80 Speed Blaster

So far, used it for approx 100kms. Tyres are holding up really well and feel better than Michellin or MRF. Lets see how it goes. Its too late in the night now. Will post come pics later .

My local dealer showed me 2 option
                          1. Michelin pilot sporty
                          2. Ceat dhoom 3

Both are of same profile 140/70
Which is better? Anyone having the experience. Plz share

                          One more question.
I asked about dunlop tyres.. He said the company is going to closed. Is this true? I was thinking of dunlop tuff grip tyre. Any idea about this: confused:

Michelin Pilot Sporty isn't good. If you have the budget, go for Michelin Pilot Street Radial, will cost Rs. 5500.

Ceat tyre is also good and is pretty less expensive than Michelin.

Not sure about Dunlop shutting down. Tuff Grip is good and runs without any issues.

                            Cheerz!!

Most companies are outsourcing tyre make after the isi branding issue... some companies like ircs etc have just pulled out completely.... afaik indian partnerships will only f... the products up... history 101...
Tvs + michelin= bullcrap hard michelins and tvs well..less said the better..
Bajaj + ktm... owners facing quality issues every now and then...
Mitsubishi + hm = ahem... well both are gonners so who cares
Honda + hero = honda is just plonking its engines here and there... hero giving facelifts and stickers etc... we need eric buell to step in and hero quality to remain at par...honda quality was good but look at the dream neos and trigger rust issues etc...

                              Now back to the topic

Currently the only tyre company whose tyre quality, design ,coustomer support etc. graph going up for the better...from a customers point of view is ceat and mrf... stick to these two brands...mrf listens to manufacturers of bikes and ceat listens to consumers... win win for both.

The roads near my place were recently dug up to fix water pipe stuff... and resulted in a 2 km ride on mush and slush shit slippery roads... pure red muck... so I took a 80 grit sand paper and rubbed the surface of my tyre a little and it made quite some noticeable difference for 2 weeks or so..... also a quick 5 second burnout helps in this season not recommended....

One question:- how come tvs scooter tyres are softer compound and better gripping then tvs bike tyres?! Also.... anyone looking for a 110/18 grippy tubeless tyre? try the one from the hero xtrem 2014! Simply superb!

                              Divyansh....

If you can suggest any other option for fz better and long lasting but most important puncture resistance it will be helpful
