Thanks for the reply Xionite. But I think R15 uses zapper FY/FY1 in front. Is zapper C and FY same, i.e. soft compound?
Any idea about PSD's cost and from where i can get it in Pune?

Has anybody of us used 'MRF Zapper S' tyres? Especially on 200NS. How would you rate its performance in wet and dry? Thanks.

      • Re: Tyres

Zapper S is the one that the R15 V1 rear tyre used to come, offers very good grip, compared to most bikes that are shod with other Zapper series! But check your rim size, before you zero in on the tire.

You can also try this combo

        Front - MRF Nylogrip Zapper S - 100/80 (R15 V1's rear tyre)
        Rear - MRF RevZ-S - 130/70 (R15 V2's rear tyre)

        Cheers!

                Hi Guys,

I want to upgrade my stock tyres on Pulsar 200NS.

                Please suggest best tyre options.

                My preferences are :
                - Need the best grip wet/dry surface.
                - Stability on highways at higher speed
                - Also should be good for city ride.

I am considering the same stock size MRF RevZ. Please provide your inputs.

                Cheers!!!

19 inch tyres would be difficulty to get. but iam not sure upgrading the front tyre size...it may affect handling greatly....Experts may give better explanation...!!
me too thought of upgrading my front tyre in Hunk,,,,,but still didn't get clear info on handling part. one thing iam pretty confident is if front tyre is upgraded then rear should also be upgraded to considerably bigger ones...!!

                      • P150 front tyre: Need help urgently

                        Hi All,

Yesterday recently changed my P150 UG4 tyre to
80/100*17 MRF Zapper FS for front (Original size was 2.75*17)
                        100/90*17 MRF Vyde or rear.

But now bike wobbles a lot . Also, the front part of bike has raised a lot.
Can someone confirm if front tyre size is correct? If not, I will go to dealer and replace the same today itself.

PS: Tyre is fitted correctly and lining is perfect.

                        Thanks,

Wanted to check if 2.75*17 and 80/100 tyres have same height?

2.75=~70mm. but are you sure its 2.75, because the front should have 80mm afaik.

regarding height 2.75*17 means the height is 70mm, here the aspect ratio is 100%.

for ur new tyre 80/100, the height is 80mm, hence ther is an increase of 10mm in the front tyre which is not at all desirable in terms of handling compared to your previous one.

my suggestion always stick to the stock for better performance. also u might be facing speedo error...!

Note: Incase of upgrading the tyre size , plz remember to choose low aspect ratio(denoted in % which means the height is % of width, that mean it sow be low for better handling.)

[Nitish: Pulsar 150 2008 model uses 2.75 as stock tyre. Previously, Euro"slip" was 2.75*17.]

[Nitish:I visited the dealer and inspected 2.75*17 and 80/100*17 tyre side by side. There was difference in tyre height.
I can feel extra height of tyre while driving also. Headlight beam adjustment has gone sky high. Unable to flick bike quickly. Tyre is bumpy from 50-60 kmph.
I think overall diameter of tyre will go up by 20mm. Sitting posture has gone bad.]

Hi Dinesh, Thanks for your reply. I went to dealer and he checked the appropriate size of tyre in MRF booklet. It was 2.75.
After multiple tries of refitting and decreasing air pressure to 23,25 etc, he has agreed to replace tyre with 2.75 one. Will get it and update you on the same.

Please find my observations in bold.
One question, Will 80/90*17 and 90/80 tyre have same height?
As per my understanding, both will be 72mm high but 90/80 will be wider.

                            Thanks,

                              80/90 ~ height 90% of 80 = 72mm (better coushion)

                              90/80 ~ height 80% of 90 = 72 mm (better handling)

but if you upsize the front tyre, it is compulsory to upsize the rear also, otherwise turning will be affected.

I've got suggestions from you people and also ive read other forums that 140mm is not advisable for 150R, Saying the mileage and performance would be directly affected. But still i am reposting this post just to bring attention to any cbr 150r owner who has tried 140mm. If the mileage and performance is managable, i will go for it.
