Performance and mileage would be affected if you tried 100/80. Here 100 is tyre's width and 80 is tyres height above the rim.
Excellent grip and confidence on road is defined for sure.
If you want everything at medium, go for 80/100 ceat gripp.
Grip would be a bit less than the 100/80 tyre.

Bigger sizes won't affect performance or mileage very much, though not over done will result in good performance, and good handling. Go beyond 20 or 30 either side of the spec you're in for trouble. 10 to 20 wouldn't offset the figure much.

Friends, I am looking for a change of my ZMA tyres (both F and R; dual purpose).
One option I have in mind is Michelin Sirac Street 100/90-18. Another option I got from ZMA thread is Ceat Zoom.

Please help me in deciding either of the two mentioned above keeping in mind touring and not city commuting. I might go for change this weekend (Delhi).
Apart from the other two, I am open to other options as well.

Thanks RX. Vertigo I would consider as one of the option for the rear. But I've heard, its an okay tyre. Not that great on wet tarmac and on corners. Is it so??

Thanks VJ. I bought Zapper FY1 90/80 for my front yesterday. Costed me 1,950rs from MRF dealer. Still need to put it on the bike. For rear, I'm still exploring options. Michellin, MFR, IRC, Ceat Vertigo...Let's see

A/t metric sizing format I think 100/80 means the section/tread width is 100 mm and the aspect ratio (used surface) is 80% of it.

Try Michelin sirac or else you can go in for a Zapper q or a vyde as both the tyres come in 150 size but the second profile is slightly higher. The stock tyre tends to skid a lot on wet conditions, I would suggest u have a look at ceat vertigo rage also..

For dual-purpose you can stick to CEAT GRIPP for the rear tire, since the stock is and 80/100 or the 90/90 spec and 100/90 for rear. Michelin Sirac Street for the front too is a good combo. Else you can try the DUNLOP Monster though a bigger spec than the recommended, it will provide good lateral stability.

Didnt get the highlighted part.

I have the following options in mind for rear (dual-purpose)
Ceat GRIPP
Ceat VERTIGO SPORT
MRF METEOR
And Dunlop Monster, it is available in stock size of 100/90-18.
Not considering Michelin Sirac Street because have read more bad about it than good.

Now will have to dig reviews of these to decide!

Let me clear it up for you, the stock is 80/100 right, so you can use 90/90 instead of that, in the SIRAC or the Michelin Pilot Sporty, if you can source one. For rear, I'd suggest Dunlop Monster for pure off-roading or the VERTIGO Sport.

Okay. The front spec is 2.75 x 18. I dont know what it is when converted to the 3 letter format.
You said it would be 80/100 and 90/90 would fit. Point noted!

My first preference would be a tubeless.. its going to be a hell with tube type during long tours..

Just a question..

For long rides, are tubeless tires good or tuff up tubes that used to come on hunk good?? The tuff up tube fills the puncture itself and we just need to pump air, right?? Which one would you guys suggest for long tours?
