I wouldn't mind NOT checking the mileage at all if a had a GSR 600

P.S : You actually keep track of the fuel average on a fillup-by-fillup basis for the GSR..?

Best of luck break the XCD mileage figures , Lol are you kidding you are inviting more air into your carb and mileage 60kmpl , come on man give a break check thoroughly and get back.

In the comet too I do not have the fuel knob.
And yeah I do keep a check on the fuel efficiency on both my bikes. As niks said I can analyze my riding style, quality between different bunks, bike's condition, by keeping an eye on kmpl

Ah.. Forgot about your Comet there.. My bad

And an excellent point there.. Keeping track of the mileage gives one a good picture of the fuel quality difference between bunks..
Sadly though.. My bikes returns 40kmpl despite being filled up at one of the reliable bunks : M/S Reddy at Nehru Circle..
Must be my riding style that's to be blamed...

someone here was talking about a bike which does not have a fuel knob...even i have the same thing...i still use reserve to reserve...as in 220 there an indicator for low fuel...so when the light flashes...i think its time to refuel...btw...my bike returns 40-45kmpl...thats more than enough for me...

and the bike which has an Fi should not run dry...as far as i know

This might be erroneous sometimes in my point of view because if you are going on an uneven terrain the fuel might move in to some part of petrol tank which the fuel sink can't measure: result the light flashes. Don't have much gyan on how the fuel indicator works but sometimes I have faced this problem.

dont trust the fuel guages (specially bajaj) for accurate readings.the red light will pop up even if theres more than 10L in the tank.

U can try fuel test cans, which are available in 1liter, the can can be directly connected to ur bike by removing stock petrol tube and attaching the can pipe to tht (don't forget to turn off ur fuel tank) fill the can fully and properly. and gofor the test on a high way or in the city untill the pretrol in the can completes. by this u cna have exact liter test., sorry if there are any grammar mistakes.

my bike got reserve.but no fuel indicator .yeah ,its a bullet electra .
broadband was down for me for past a week almost.
anyways ,I went to a trip with my bullet to coimbatore ,a city around 185kms away from my home. the problem is ,I have to ride the bull at a speed not above 40-45kmph .well ,I cannot follow the rule exactly ,but rode the bike around 50kmph and occasional 60kmph.I filled 10 litres of petrol and I guess the mileage returned is approximately 40kmpl on this trip.not bad for a bullet;eh?

I ride a Karizma and reserve to reserve works for me very well...most of the time I buy fuel worth 200..and take note of the amount of fuel iv got..and everytime my ZMA goes into reserve i take note of the trip reading and then press d trip button to Zero.....

for my NINJA i check it our from whenever the fill petrol sign gets on i go immediatly fill it. and check it when the fill fuel sign gets on again. i did it twice and both times it turned on after 170kms of driving . so safely say my mileage is 15.9kmpl !!! amazing for a 1000cc. much better than my previous RD which gve only 14 max.

                            Not really!

Checking mileage regularly on any vehicle is a god idea. It gives you an idea of the fuel quality and also the of the engine health.

I have a doubt. Is this reserve to reserve method 100% accurate?
Suppose the reserve capacity of my bike is 2 liters. So is it true that whenever my bike goes into reserve I have exactly 2 liters of petrol in the tank? Please do comment on this.
