Does xbhp team have any community on orkut?
Note the ODO reading (or trip reading) when the bike hits reserve (Say this reading is x). Refuel the bike and note the amount of fuel you are getting (say you have got y litre). Check the ODO or trip reading the next time the bike hits reserve again (say this reading is z).

    Average will be ( z - x ) / y.

    For your second question, yes.

when your bike hit reserve note the meter reading and just fill 1 liter fuel ....then turn the reserve noob on main one then note the meter reading when again your bike hit reserve ...
you can easily check that in 1 liter fuel ...how many km your bike did

Empty the petrol tank pour in 1 litre of fuel and carry another 1 litre with you ride on till the bike stops you will get the exact figure then, don't forget to reset the trip meter before you do this.

The tank top method will give less mileage in carb bikes! I think due to the Pressure of the Fuel will be more so more fuel will go for cumbustion resulting less mileage .
The 1 litre method is good I think!

1more thing,A normal Bajaj Carb usually contains approximately 20-25gms petrol, when you are riding at an empty stretch turn off the knob of the petrol and on constant speed ride it till you cover the max till bike takes hick ups,
if you reach approximately 2.2kms you have got an app avg of 55+..

                        OT :
IIRC He says it like this "SAB PAVITTAR KAR DENGE"

The reserve to reserve method is perfect. Carry a 1 litre petrol in a bottle. As soon as the bike starts sputtering and finally stalls when in ON position[when its time to switch to reserve, empty the bottle into the tank. Now you have 1 litre of petrol in the tank plus some reserve fuel. Reset the trip meter and run. Check the trip meter when the bike sputters and dies again[ie: time to go to reserve again].
This reading is your mileage per litre of fuel

Its quite easy to do tat...
1.Just set ur trip to zero
                          2.empty the fuel tank.
                          3. fill fuel for just 1ltr. exact.(dont trust the normal mineral water bottles)get it from the pump.
                          4.run it.
5.count the kms in city nd the same for highway.

DON'T FORGET TO CARRY A BOTTLE O FUEL BEFORE U DO THIS.

                            Accurate Mileage Calculating method

                            Hi All,

How do you calculate the mileage of your bike.. Yes it is the ratio of Distanc travelled by Fuel consumed, but here are my questions :

                            - Do u calculate mileage as and when u reach Reserve tank capacity ?

                            or

                            - Do you calculate mileage by having the tank full and topping it up after each ride ?

Which method would give the most accurate mileage calculation ? Or is there a third better option ? What are the cons of the other method in this case ?

Say if i take the first option, i would suffer from more Fuel evaporation compared to option two.. Give your opinions!!!

I can't use the reserve method coz my uni doesn't use up all the fuel in reserve, it leaves roughly half litre fuel in the tank the reserve capacity is 1.3l so not exactly how much it can actually use out of that.
